**Reporting to**: Chief Estimator

**Location**: 9094 Cavanagh Road (Ashton, Ontario)

**Working hours**: Monday to Friday (8:00AM to 5:00PM)

**Heavy Civil Estimator** is a critical part of the Heavy Civil Group (which includes Sewer & Water, Earthworks, Roadway Construction & Paving). This role is a significant contributor to the estimating team and helps the company take advantage of competitive bidding opportunities, meet bid deadlines, and implement organization throughout many processes. This fast-paced role requires a comprehensive understanding of preparing estimates for a wide range of projects.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Perform detailed, timely and well-organized cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects
- Review and assess tender specifications, drawings, and reports
- Attend project meetings and job showings as required
- Identify and evaluate risks associated with each project
- Collaborate with estimating team throughout bidding process
- Oversee pre-qualification submissions such as formulation of Design-Build/Joint Venture/Major proposals
- Assisting project management teams with change management process (i.e. clarifying changes, helping resolve issues, and pricing change orders)

**Requirements**:

- Experience in heavy civil construction: roads, mass earthworks, sewer & water, paving, ICI
- Knowledge of market conditions and the ability to evaluate general trends
- Relevant post-secondary education. (CET or P.Eng. preferred) is considered an asset
- 3+ years of progressive experience in heavy civil construction cost estimating with field experience is preferred
- Experience with estimating software - B2W Estimate or equivalent
- Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite Programs
- Effective verbal/written communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy
- Highly detail oriented, self-directed, organized, and proactive
