Job Summary

We are a research unit within Queen’s Health Sciences that conducts health services and policy research. We use a wide breath of methods and data sources, including health administrative data to study diverse clinical populations, health system services and policies.

**JOB SUMMARY**:
Reporting to the Director, Health Services and Policy Research Institute (HSPRI), the Analyst will work collaboratively with project teams and under the direction of Principal Investigators in all data analytical activities to support, conduct and complete assigned projects.

**Job Description**:

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Develop and execute a data set creation plan and analysis plan for the project team’s assigned projects.
- Using statistical software programs (e.g., RStudio) to extract and merge data from large databases according to data set creation plans to create study cohorts following analytic standards and guidelines.
- Carry out statistical analysis on developed study cohorts according to specifications of project analysis plans.
- Prepare and review (with Lead as required) analytic output (e.g., tables and reports) along with liaising with PI /Research Coordinator, ensuring check points are being done as part of process.
- Work effectively and efficiently according to University and HSPRI policies, procedures, standards, workflow processes, documents and requirements (e.g., complete program and project; documentation according to best practices).
- Assist with preparing study cohorts for students or faculty.
- Contribute to the writing of reports (technical reports/working papers/ publications/web-based summaries), abstracts, poster presentations, peer-reviewed publications and other relevant deliverables, in collaboration with the PI.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders in support of the project such as expert panels, committees and team meetings.
- Facilitate the uptake of knowledge by local decision-makers across Ontario through the presentation of findings, education sessions, and one-on-one interactions as required.
- Contribute to or support the development of a body of knowledge in support of HSPRI and such as updating dataset, and documentation.
- Contribute to other committees or activities within HSPRI.

- Undertake other duties as required in support of the unit.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health Sciences or other related discipline, with a solid background in quantitative skills/statistics.
- Experience with statistical software programming skills are required.
- Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

**SPECIAL SKILLS**:

- An understanding of concepts of health services research, how to use administrative data in this research, and understanding of core bio-statistical analytic techniques.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Internet Explorer), as well as the ability to work with computerized databases.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a research team.
- Interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) in order to interact with both staff and clients at all levels.
- Good organization skills including ability to organize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously; with a high attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Effective time management skills in order to handle a broad range of responsibilities and frequent interruptions.
