**Research and Development Assistant (Food Industry)**

Here we grow again Named one of Canada’s fastest growing companies for the 7th consecutive year, Sweets from the Earth, is looking for a Research and Development Assistant with experience in food manufacturing, to join our R&D team

As a proud plant-based manufacturer, we boast a reduced-footprint operation compared to conventional food manufacturers. We are a customer driven organization catering to special diets and allergies while focusing on sustainable agriculture and the green food industry. Areas of focus are Vegan, Nut-free, Gluten-free & Sugar-free.

This is a fast-paced position, and involves a high degree of research, trials, and organizational skills to help resolve production challenges.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Performing benchtop trials and recording data and documenting findings.
- Assist in plant trials and first production runs
- Assist with scaling benchtop trials up to production batches.
- Communicate and present findings and suggestions to other R&D team members.
- Assist in improving product quality and operational efficiency through on-going review of formulation and process parameters.
- Ensure tight deadlines are met or exceeded, and customer specifications are followed.
- Prepare customer samples as required.
- Keep R&D lab tidy and organized throughout the day.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned.

**Education and Qualifications**
- Food science or culinary background is an asset.
- Resourceful and strong trouble shooting skills and the ability to execute solutions rapidly.
- Exceptional sensory skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Self directed individual with initiative, motivation and positive attitude.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to represent the company and project team in a professional manner.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00 per hour
