The fleet manager oversees all the company vehicles, drivers and traffic control signage and related equipment including their operations, condition, external & internal policy compliance and overall performance. They ensure that all the vehicles and drivers are being utilized to their fullest potential in a safe and cost-effective manner. They oversee the yard and the yard person. They are responsible for procuring required equipment, budgeting, and communicating fleet/yard needs with other management. - Oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of each company-owed vehicle - Procurement of new vehicles and set-up according to fleet requirements - Stripping and selling of all vehicles at end of life, maximizing any potential profit - Register, obtain licenses and insure the company’s vehicles - Maintain all vehicle information, service records and documentation - Partner with reputable repair and maintenance shops in favorable locations - Oversee and schedule vehicle maintenance and servicing - Reduce unnecessary expenses and increase fuel efficiency - Ensure the fleet is compliant with any applicable regulations - Analyze fleet performance data and improve accordingly - Report fleet performance, readiness and finances to the other management - Oversees the drivers - Obtain and keep current drivers information (driver’s license and abstract) - Securely store drivers records - Ensure that drivers follow their designated working hours and routes - Ensure that drivers are following all applicable laws, regulations and policies - Monitor, correct and improve driving behaviors and operations - Collect weekly truck logs and monitor for accurate fuel usage and mileage and compare to GPS data and fuel bills - Ensure all company vehicles are returned to the yard at the end of shift for any drivers that are leaving the company or going on leave - Oversees the yard - Ensures all outbuilding and grounds are being maintained - Oversees the yard person - Ensures all equipment, signage and tools are maintained - Oversees equipment and traffic control equipment needs - Budgets and procures new traffic control equipment, signage and tools as required Responsible for keeping the yard clean, tidy and hazard free at all times. They perform general maintenance duties on yard equipment, keep the containers and signage organized and ready for deployment. They are responsible for keeping the highway trucks and any unassigned trucks clean (inside and out) and ready for deployment. - Maintaining the grounds (mowing, etc). - Organizing and taking inventory of all signage and inform fleet manager of any items that need to be replaced or purchased - Taking inventory of all PPE and safety equipment, re-stocking or maintaining as required and informing the fleet manager of anything that needs replaced or purchased - Organizing and maintaining tools - Organizing and cleaning storage cans - Cleaning/detailing interiors and exteriors of highway trucks - Cleaning/detailing interiors and exteriors of unassigned trucks and all returned trucks - Load/unload equipment and signage in trucks as required - Cleaning and maintaining the outside of all buildings and stairs - Basic truck maintenance (changing bulbs, etc) and keeping the fleet manager updated of anything that may impact the performance or readiness of fleet vehicles and any safety concerns - Keep inventory of all consumables (windshield washer fluid, bulbs, forms, etc) and inform fleet manager of items that need to be purchased Pay: $27.00-$28.00 per hour Additional pay: - Overtime pay **Benefits**: - Extended health care Work Location: Hybrid remote in Chemainus, BC
