**Role Responsibilities**:
Do you want to work in a challenging workplace where you are supporting the Leadership Excellence unit to in the Teacher and leadership Certification Branch to promote and analyze strategies to ensure a well-balanced workforce of teaching professionals to meet current and future education needs of the early childhood to grade 12 education system?

Reporting to the manager, the Workforce Analyst identifies and analyzes strategies that lead to the development of policies that will support a robust teacher workforce throughout the province including under-served, rural, and remote areas. This position includes responsibility being the department expert on memorandums of agreements for post-secondary institutions regarding teacher preparation programs and requires knowledge of grants and contract policies and financial processes as well as responding to Action Requests concerning the recruitment and retention of teachers and teacher leaders are also responsibilities of this position. The strategic analysis work of this position results in effective decision making in support of department priorities related to the workforce of teaching professionals to provide Alberta students with excellent teachers and teacher leaders.

The Workforce Analyst is responsible for:
**1) Agreements, Policy, and Procedure Development**
- Remains current on information to develop policy regarding the certification, employment, and education system issues for teaching professionals in coordination with other Canadian jurisdictions and departments such as Advanced Education.
- Provides in-depth knowledge and analysis in the development of departmental and Government of Alberta policies that support teacher preparation programs of teacher professionals in Alberta and teacher workforce grants and bursaries.
- Provides recommendations and supports the implementation of continuous improvement for grants and bursaries that aligns with the Ministry's Business Plan and organizational goals.
- Works with post-secondary institutions who promote, support, and provide bursary programs for Alberta teachers and teacher leaders, labor mobility applicants, and internationally educated teachers.
- Monitors and maintains the currency of memorandum of agreements with post-secondary institutions related to teacher preparation programs.

**2)** **Analysis of Post-Secondary Teacher Preparation Programs and Impact on Alberta Educational Workforce**
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including school authorities, to build and maintain strong working relationships regarding various grant and bursary programs.
- Develops and updates written documentation to support grant program assessment processes, provides grant funding summaries and other input into briefing notes and addresses information requests from Assistant Deputy Minister's Office, Deputy Minister's Office, and Minister's Office.
- Maintains a detailed understanding of the Alberta education system, with a focus on post-secondary teacher preparation programs, teacher and teacher leader certification, and provincial demographics.
- Builds strong and effective working relationships with Alberta post-secondary Faculties of Education to encourage collaboration to gain a sound understanding of policy related to teacher certification, recruitment and retention. Stays current on provincial, national, and international teacher workforce issues including those for post-secondary seats for teacher preparation programs with a sound understanding of how the policies of today can impact the teacher workforce for the province of tomorrow.**3) Data Analysis, Evaluation, and Information Management Practices and Processes**
- Provides quantitative and/or qualitative analysis of teacher workforce data from a variety of sources - TWINS, surveys, engagement sessions, etc. for senior leadership to allow findings to inform the work of the department.
