**ROLE OVERVIEW**
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, including subcontracts, vendor agreements, and client contracts
- Ensure that contracts are compliant with legal, regulatory, and company policies
- Provide support and guidance to project managers, procurement teams, and other internal stakeholders regarding contractual obligations, terms, and risk management
- Monitor contract performance and compliance, identifying potential contract risks and proposing solutions
- Maintain organized records of all legal documents, contracts, and related correspondence
- Manage dispute resolution processes, including managing claims and working with external legal counsel as necessary
- Support the Chief Legal Counsel in researching relevant laws, regulations, and case law to ensure company compliance and mitigating risk
- Perform other duties as assigned
**REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience, particularly in contracts within the construction or mining sectors
- Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, risk management, and compliance requirements in the construction or mining industries
- Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage conflicting interests while protecting the company's interests
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements related to mining operations
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams
- Experience working in-house at a construction, mining, or energy company
- Knowledge of industry-specific laws, including environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and labor laws
- Self-starter with ability to handle complex issues in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with contract management software and document management systems
**EDUCATION**
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or Law **AND** Certified Professional in Contract Management (CPCM); **or**:
- Paralegal certification; **or**:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- If JD, admission to the state bar (or eligibility to become admitted)
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Occasional in-state, out-of-state, and out-of-country travel to meet with suppliers or perform site visits
- Ability to attend and participate in meetings
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**

- Full-time, in-office position with standard office hours (M-F, 8-5)
- Work beyond the standard schedule may be required to meet deadlines or handle urgent matter
- Based out of the Stobie Open Pit Mine in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada
- Must be fluent in the English language
- Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Thiess
