**What’s the Job?**
Spring through fall, our Landscape Gardeners work on our fast-paced garden team, offering a wide range of services from routine garden care, to cleanups and restoration, to garden layout, planting and design. We service residential properties throughout midtown Toronto.
Come winter, gardeners join our busy snow team, working in teams of two to service small residential routes of about 35 properties each. You’ll be on call for all snowstorms between mid-November and mid-April, but otherwise relaxing, resting up for the spring, and doing whatever else makes you happy
As a landscape gardener with Gardenzilla, you will be responsible for:
- working 40-45 hours per week spring through fall, beginning between 6:30 and 7 a.m. and ending between 2:30 and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (no weekends), and on-call for snow removal in winter
- maintaining a regular, tight route of urban gardens on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis
- weeding, edging, pruning & hedging to help keep gardens looking spiffy
- planting & transplanting by client request
- topping up soil, compost & mulch by client request
- performing one-time property cleanups, hedge touch-ups, tree removals, bulb plantings and more
- talking to clients, identifying plants and answering questions
- above all, helping busy Torontonians get excited about their gardens
**Compensation and Benefits**
At Gardenzilla, we place our employees (and our clients) ahead of the bottom line. Employees will enjoy:
- industry-leading pay of $22-32 / hour for gardeners and garden leads (based on seniority) and $3100-5500 monthly over the winter, whether or not it snows
- fully paid statutory holidays (Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, August Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Monday)
- overtime pay - time-and-a-half after 88 hours worked on a pay cycle
- up to three (3) paid sick days per year and winter vacations after probation
- monthly health benefits plan (health savings account)
- all uniforms and PPE paid for by company
- use of company vehicle for travel to/from work (for leads)
- annual summer BBQ, winter holiday party & quarterly team breakfasts
- paid job-related courses / training (just ask) - GROW programs, Landscape Ontario seminars, Humber College apprenticeships
- optional year-round work, with snow removal to avoid seasonal layoffs
To apply, please include a cover letter addressed to Head Gardener Simon Marsello.
