Labour Relations Manager

**Overview**:
CAM Industrial Solutions, one of North America's fastest-growing privately held industrial service providers, is seeking an experienced and strategic Labour Relations Manager to support operations across Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and California. As a key member of the operations and HR leadership teams, this role will guide labour strategy, drive workforce initiatives, and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions and union environments.
We are looking for a high-impact, relationship-driven leader who thrives in complex, multi-union environments and brings a collaborative, hands-on approach to managing diverse stakeholder relationships. If you have deep experience navigating industrial labour landscapes and a passion for building resilient, productive workforce partnerships, we encourage you to apply.
**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations, and operating in close alignment with the Senior Manager, Human Resources, the Labour Relations Manager will be responsible for shaping and executing labour relations strategy across CAM’s Western operations. This includes both Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions, working closely with internal stakeholders, external unions, subcontractors, and clients to ensure a consistent, legally compliant, and solutions-oriented approach to labour relations.
This position plays a key role in supporting CAM’s reputation for operational excellence, workforce stability, and ethical labour practices.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Lead and coordinate labour relations initiatives across Alberta, Saskatchewan, BC, and California.
- Interpret and provide guidance on Canadian provincial/federal and U.S. state/federal labour laws.
- Develop, implement, and refine labour relations policies, practices, and collective bargaining strategies.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on grievances, arbitration, workforce strategy, and union contract interpretation.
- Administer and support the negotiation of collective agreements, ensuring alignment with project objectives and legal obligations.
- Collaborate with Estimating and Project Management teams to provide labour strategy insight, support contract costing, and assess labour risk.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with unions, contractors, clients, and labour organizations.
- Represent CAM in interactions with labour boards, client-side labour relations teams, and third-party associations.
- Support Indigenous workforce inclusion and engagement programs, in alignment with CAM’s community commitments.
- Manage and ensure compliance with the Temporary Foreign Worker Program and applicable employment standards.
- Monitor and mitigate labour-related risks through legislative awareness, proactive issue identification, and industry trend analysis.
- Partner with Legal and HR on investigations, dispute resolution, and workforce planning.
- Deliver targeted labour relations training to front-line supervisors and project leaders to foster effective issue resolution at the field level.
- Champion proactive labour engagement and promote a culture of safety, fairness, and respect across all CAM operations.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related field (required or strongly preferred).
- Certifications or ongoing education in Labour Relations or Industrial Relations considered a strong asset.
- Minimum 5 years of dedicated labour or industrial relations experience in unionized, multi-jurisdictional environments.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating and administering collective agreements, ideally within industrial construction, energy, or maintenance sectors.
- Proven success in managing relationships with building trade unions and navigating complex union dynamics.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian and U.S. labour laws and regulations; cross-border experience considered an asset.
- Strong leadership, diplomacy, and communication skills with the ability to influence and guide stakeholders at all levels.
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret legal agreements, assess workforce risk, and advise strategically.
- High level of discretion, emotional intelligence, and the ability to lead through collaboration and influence.
