POSITION TITLE: Loader Operator
REPORTS TO: Load/Unload Supervisor
BASIC FUNCTION: The Loader Operator is responsible for the loading and unloading of material on trucks and the maintenance of shipping and receiving documents.
JOB TYPE: Full Time
HOURS PER WEEK: Hours vary depending on season. The days may be longer or shorter as required by daily job demands.)
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES**:
- Loads and unloads trucks and ensures that shipments are not damaged and that the amount and type of product is correct.
- Moves lumber and wood products from storage to work areas and vice versa as required.
- Performs routine maintenance on loader as required by established procedure.
- Maintains cleanliness of storage areas as assigned.
- Maintains inventory records as required.
- Performing duties consistent with all applicable safety standards as well as company rules, regulations, and policies.
- Wears all required Personal Protective Equipment.
- Operates equipment safely and is aware of surroundings.
- Examines completed products for quality and points out issues to plant supervisor.
- Performs tasks with mínimal breakage to panels and trusses.
- Shows up for work prepared on time, rarely missing time from work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Successful completion of the loader driver licensing process with a score of 80% on skills test and 85% on written test.
- Demonstrated ability to frequently get on and off a loader, to withstand operations on rough surfaces, to work in a wide range of weather conditions and to operate a loader up to three hours without a break and twelve hours with breaks.
- Demonstrated ability to lift up to 100 pounds and to perform hand loading or unloading.
- Demonstrated hand-eye co-ordination.
- Basic knowledge of all plant inventory and product.
- Working knowledge of basic math computations and inventory techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to write legibly and to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work shifts and hours mandated by management.
- Must have a positive disposition and be able to interact effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail are required.
- **Experience operating loaders is** **required. Experience is ideally in the structural building components industry.**:
- Must have transportation to and from work as TRS is not located on a bus route.
