**Responsibilities Include**:

- Technical/Surgical Skills_:

- Jogging patients for dynamic exams
- Lunging technique for scan patients and dynamic exams
- Use of all aids used in handling - twitch, lip chain, blindfold, and help from other team members
- Understanding and use of IVC suture ties
- Clip and prep IV, treatment and surgery sites, and learn difference in prep techniques
- Prep horses for bone scan - bandages, blankets, tail wraps
- Label scan stalls appropriately and use proper PPE when handling these patients or stalls
- Hold horses for radiographs, holding the xray plate for diagnostic images, always wearing PPE
- Set-up of all endoscopes, ultrasounds, radiograph generators and plates, and laser
- Basic use of IVF plumps and syringe pumps
- Clean and disinfect all areas, instruments and equipment used in equine once procedures are complete
- Learn and master bandaging - quick wraps for scan and recovery, stable wraps for patients post-op
- Set-up OR, surgery table and recovery
- Learn and master sterile technique. Gown and glove. Open surgery table
- Learn EzyVet in order to request diagnostics
- Understanding of patient positioning in the OR, bone scan, MRI, and CT
- Surgical prep of patients in OR
- Patient Care_:

- Meet clients at their trailers and assist unloading. Direct to a stall and ensure all documentation is received. Alert team and Vet of patient arrival
- Weigh horses in a safe manor
- Label patient, stall, and any feed or belongings. Input all of the previously mentioned into VR
- Hold patients for technician/vets
- Clean and of stalls and all implements, buckets, toys, etc
- Prepare patient go-home bags
- Prepare consumables like Jorge drapes
- Monitor and maintain inventory. Replace used stock, request items of low stock, monitor expired products.
- Discharge patients with all the belongings and go-home items
- Proper handling and disposal of needles, syringes, sharps, and bio-hazards
- Safe trailer loading
- Manure management
- On-the-Job training for these high-level technical skills_:

- Assist in recovery - head rope, tail rope, or patient holding
- Hold and assist in induction - hold to drop, place mouth gag, place leg straps and attach to hoist, drive hoist.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Formal education and Certification as an Animal Care Attendant may be required for some roles and is considered an asset.
- 2 years minimum experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is required.
- Previous experience working in a veterinary referral hospital is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of basic veterinary, equine, and medical procedures and terminology.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 - 40 per week
