Lead Carpenter

**Come make a difference with us** **We are looking for**: - An experienced carpenter/renovator **(5+ years min)** looking for rewarding work; - Someone who can lead & manage meaningful renovation projects. As a lead, you will be responsible for the job site - and have the ability to undertake all aspects of a project, from demo to reading prints, to finishing - You are great at staying organized & keeping everyone on time. - Someone who loves bathroom renos (most common), kitchens or decks/ramps, or a willingness to learn. - Accessibility knowledge is an asset, but not a requirement. - Potentially accept delicious cookies from clients. - Someone with a great attitude & willingness to grow with our team. **Are we a fit for you?** - BuildABLE specializes in accessible renovations. It was started by a Carpenter, an Elevator Mechanic and a Nurse (insert the "they all walked into a bar" joke..) but it's run by a great team on the ground. - Our clients often live with a physical disability, mobility-altering disease such as MS, ALS or Parkinson's, or after a motor vehicle accident. - We believe our renovations should look spectacular, while changing people’s lives for the better. They need to _work_ as great as they **look** ;) - We count on our team to provide input and help create the change they want to see. (Also not a requirement, but we may judge you if you don't) ;) **I'm in, but what will my days will look like??** - We are open Monday - Friday. Our front-line team usually starts on-site or material pick up at the shop. - We have leads & apprentices in the field. As a lead, you will be running your own site (bathrooms are most common) and will have the support of an apprentice or labourer, and from our Project Manager and office team. - You will be able to delegate (or teach) tasks to others on the team with less experience - and you will also be working/coordinating with our sub-trades (plumbing/electrical, etc); - Communication with clients on-site & ensuring the office team is also kept up-to-date & aware of any issues/changes, etc. - And absolutely taking pride in your work - we don't cut corners. If we don't know something, we figure it out TOGETHER. - We strive to have engaging monthly team meetings with everyone, which includes in-services, roundtables & mostly a social BBQ ;) **You will need**: - A valid driver’s licence - To be physically able to work in inaccessible homes & ability to lift/transport heavy equipment or products as needed - To be following all public health guidance - Be willing to get a _Police Record Check - Vulnerable Sector_ upon hire (we work with car accident survivors, people who live with disabilities, those with illnesses such ALS or MS, and the elderly) **Don't have time to put a resume together?
