**What you will do**

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. This is an opportunity to join Amgen’s Therapeutic Discovery Biologics organization as a Postdoctoral fellow. In this vital role, you will be using Machine Learning to build computational models from large datasets generated via structural biology techniques, such as Cryo-EM, to elucidate the dynamics of protein-protein interactions. You will be embedded in a technologically diverse team, working with leading biotechnology and machine learning experts to solve some of the most difficult problems in large molecule discovery. You will also have the opportunity to lead writing manuscripts, publish in leading journals, and present data in internal and external settings including oral and poster presentations at scientific conferences.

The postdoctoral fellow will have two co-mentors who lead Amgen’s efforts in Cryo-EM and AI/ML for Biologics, respectively.

The postdoctoral fellow will:

- Develop methods to learn finite-state models of the dynamics of molecular interactions from Cryo-EM image data.
- Develop active learning strategies to prioritize molecular dynamics simulations to enhance those models.
- Collaborate with cross-functional interdisciplinary teams of scientists
- Work with software engineers to deploy these methods
- The postdoctoral fellow will also receive personalized training in relevant areas of Machine Learning or Structural Biology, as needed.

**Basic Qualifications**:

- Doctorate degree in a quantitative field

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience working in high performance computing environments
- Strong proficiency in programming
- Excellent communicator able to write and speak about technical concepts to business, technical, and lay audiences
- Experience building machine learning models from complex data sets
- Experience working with Cryo-EM data relevant to drug discovery
- Experience with computational structural biology and molecular modeling
- Experience with cloud (AWS, GCP, DGX Foundry) computing
- Experience with advanced machine learning methods, such as active learning and deep learning
