Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. This is an opportunity to join Amgen’s Biologic Therapeutic Discovery organization as a Postdoctoral fellow. We are seeking someone to develop cell-free methods to generate large sets of binding measurements to enable Machine Learning-guided protein discovery & engineering. In this vital role, you will be embedded in a technologically diverse team, working with leading biotechnology and machine learning experts to solve some of the most difficult problems in large molecule discovery. You will also have the opportunity to lead writing manuscripts, publish in leading journals, and present data in internal and external settings including oral and poster presentations at scientific conferences.

The postdoctoral fellow will have two co-mentors, one with expertise in biotechnology and the other in Machine Learning. This position is part of a Center of Excellence based at Amgen’s site in Burnaby, BC, Canada. The postdoctoral fellow will:
- Establish a platform for cell-free antibody display and binding characterization- Use the platform to generate training sets for Machine Learning- Participate in the training of predictive models- Collaborate with cross-functional interdisciplinary teams of scientists

Basic Qualifications:

- Doctorate degree in life sciences

Preferred Qualifications:

- Significant wet lab experience in biochemistry and molecular biology
- Experience with data analysis
- Excellent communicator able to write and speak about technical concepts to business, technical, and lay audiences
- Expertise in one or more display methods (ribosome, phage, yeast, mammalian, etc.)
- Experience with next generation RNA/DNA sequencing and cell-free protein expression
- Familiarity with antibody discovery concepts and approaches
- Experience with Machine Learning, or willingness to learn on the job
