The Carpenter will perform general carpentry work during construction, renovation, or repair in a residential and commercial building. This position will provide support to the Construction and Facility Services Team.
**Essential Duties include but not limited to**:

- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Using measuring tools, prepare layouts in conformance to building codes.
- Determine and identify proper materials and material quantities for new and existing projects.
- Construct, install and repair wood, plywood, wallboard structures and fixtures.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof system.
- Comply with Manitoba Health and Safety Standards.

**Qualifications**:Education & Experience**:

- Completion of a three to four-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over 4 years of work experience in trade, some high school, college, or industry courses in carpentry.
- Red Seal is preferred.

**Knowledge & Skills**:

- Ability to read building specifications and blueprint.
- Ability to provide quality workmanship and comply with Thorwin quality standards.
- Good understanding of safe work practices
- Able to move and lift 50 lbs.
- Attention to details and good problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

**Working Conditions**:

- Outdoor conditions may include dust, heat, cold, rain and noise
- Physical strenuous work
- Working at heights

**Others**:

- With a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to travel to various sites.
