**Job Description**:
**What is the Opportunity?**:
Reporting to the Operations Director, The Glenn Gould School, the Performance Manager is responsible for the successful execution of master classes, student recitals, first-year juries and comprehensive preparatory auditions, as well as other academic concerts, such as the Piano Showcase and New Music Ensemble performances. The Performance Manager is the main point of contact for visiting artists, arranges travel and accommodation for visiting faculty, and coordinates schedules for multi-day artist residencies.

**Main Duties & Responsibilities**:
**Master Classes**
- Develop list of available master class dates in collaboration with the Operations Director, The Glenn Gould School
- Communicate with 55+ professional artists per year and RCM travel agent to book suitable travel and accommodation for master class visits. Arrange class-teaching schedules, coaching schedules, practice rooms, informal recitals, or presentations by these artists.
- Act as main point of contact for all visiting artists before and after visit.
- Prepare and fully execute a contract for each artist.
- Prepare programs for each master class or informal artist recital.
- Act as host/facilitator as required for each master class artist on the day of their visit and ensures all logistics are executed.
- Collaborate with the Marketing department, to promote master classes to the public.
- Complete administrative functions related to visiting artists including processing payments and maintaining appropriate database. Track all repertoire performed, including works, composers, and composer backgrounds.

**Student Recitals, First-Year Juries, Comprehensive Preparatory Auditions**
- Assign recital dates in coordination with students and faculty and create a master recital schedule based on assigned dates and venue availability. Ensure logístical details are planned and executed.
- Coordinate and create the printed program for each recital and maintain student recital and concert listings on website.
- Plan and manage all logistics for first-year juries and comprehensive preparatory auditions
- Track all repertoire performed, including works, composers, and composer backgrounds.
- Supervise work study stage managers and ensure that all recitals have an assigned stage manager.
- Ensure all recitals have an assigned recording engineer.
- Ensure that dress rehearsals are scheduled for all recitals. Coordinate with Marketing department to ensure all recital dates are correctly listed on the GGS website.

**Visiting Faculty Travel, Accommodation, and Artist Residencies**
- Track all visits on spreadsheet, including costs, and book travel arrangements
- Coordinate visiting artist residencies. Book travel, and create a teaching schedule of master classes, sectionals and coaching. Book all classroom and hall space, rehearsal time, and arrange individual student coaching around class time. Issue an Artist Information Sheet with all pertinent details of the visit. Act as host during the visit. Process payments as needed.

**Academic Concert Support**
- Work with New Music Ensemble (NME) Director on production aspects of NME concerts.
- Contract and process payments for NME ringers identified by NME Director as needed.
- Provide NME rehearsal support as needed.
- Coordinate with the piano area coordinator to schedule, program, and execute the annual Piano Showcase. This includes creating the printed program, concert day set up, and ticket management.
- Coordinate all GGS performances that are part of the COC Free Concert Series, including providing the printed program information to the Manager of the Free Concert Series, and ensuring students arrive to the performances.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Job Requirements**:
**What We're Looking For**:

- Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Arts in Music (or college-level equivalent) or ARCT required, plus at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role in other music performance organizations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of classical music - repertoire and terms.
- Familiarity with professional concert production.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet tight deadlines
- Attention to detail with the ability to anticipate, diagnose and resolve problems/issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including well developed diplomacy skills.
- Ability to professionally represent and promote the GGS at various public events.
- Capacity to work under pressure in a performance environment.
- Ability to work independently and part of a collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel.

**Additional Information**:

- May be required to occasionally work at off-site performances required, and other school events.
- During the school year, must be flexible to work outside of regular office hours and overtime where required.
