We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant/Manager to join our team. The position comes with excellent growth opportunities as the firm is led by the well-experienced Principal who is looking to grow the team, service offerings, and the overall practice.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and complete compilation (Notice to Reader) and review engagements for complex clients
- Prepare year-end financial statements and working papers using CaseWare
- Prepare corporate, trust and personal tax returns using Taxcycle
- Preparation and filing of HST / GST / PST / WCB returns and other compliance filings.
- Preparation of T3's, T4's and T5's
- Correspond with clients and various government agencies to address tax compliance issues
- Work with client and tax team to develop and implement tax planning and tax minimization strategy engagements
- Prepare basic tax reorganizations including engagement planning, the collection of data, the development of step plans and building direct client relationships
- Liaise directly with clients to gather necessary information and resolve queries
- Handle files for clients with multiple entities and intercompany transactions
- Support and review junior staff work as required
- Maintain working knowledge of current Canadian accounting and tax standards
- Prepare complex compilation engagements, review engagements and various other accounting assignments
- Manage file progress and workflow
- Review working papers and support for the completion of financial statements
- Review corporate and individual tax returns
- Review sales tax returns
- Review monthly bookkeeping engagements
- Providing ongoing support and mentoring for the professional development of accounting staff
- Contribute to client satisfaction by providing clients with exceptional quality, timely and responsive services Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in public practice (Canadian firm) for an experienced professional
- For a junior level, completion of bachelor's degree in business/accounting with a good academic standing
- CPA designation or willing to pursue the CPA designation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management skills and ability to effectively meet deadlines
- Strong technical knowledge in Review engagements and tax compliance
- Demonstrated experience with complex client files
- Proficient in CaseWare Working Papers and Taxcycle (preferred)
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in client interactions Preferred Attributes
- Passion for working on files and solving complex accounting challenges
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with multi-entity clients and intercompany reconciliations an asset
- Strong team player with a collaborative mindset
