Breakfast Room Manager

**Reports To**: General Manager

**Position Overview**: Oversees the management, budget, and operation of the Breakfast Room and any food and beverage initiatives at the Mountaineer Lodge. You will be expected to work the front line and fill in shifts as needed, including early morning. Maximum efficiency and guest satisfaction will be achieved by maintaining liaison with all departments and working with suppliers as needed. Through your leadership, employees will complete their daily tasks safely, treat other team members with respect and ensure guests are provided with friendly, knowledgeable service.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Leadership and Development
- Lead and mentor the Breakfast Room Team, encouraging consistent improvement, attention to detail and continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership - leading by example and providing individual attention to team members as needed.
- Develops team members through appropriate training, coaching and mentoring to ensure strong operational performance.
- Demonstrate behaviors consistent with Vantage’s culture and values.
- Assist the General Manager as needed with other duties.

Financial Management
- In collaboration with your manager, develop financial objectives for the Breakfast Room Department consistent with property objectives.
- Ensure profitability of the Department through effective management of employees, labor, and product.

Operations and Team Building
- Deliver service in a friendly customer-oriented manner
- Observe daily conditions of all physical facilities and equipment in the kitchen, service and dining area, making recommendations for corrections and improvements as necessary.
- Oversee staff scheduling, allowing for appropriate service levels while controlling labor costs and overtime.
- Collaborate with the department managers for cross training to maximize opportunities for staff and ensure labour efficiencies.
- Follow or develop standards and practices to ensure consistent quality experience for guests.
- Revise breakfast offer as needed and appropriate to the company standards and values.
- Supervise, motivate and provide performance reviews, recognition and discipline for staff as required.
- Ensure that requirements for appropriate sanitation and food safety levels in all areas are met.
- Ensure all breakfast items are stocked throughout entire shift, busing tables and interacting with the guests.
- Clean up after breakfast is over and maintaining the breakfast room area.
- Cooking/correct heating of food.
- Monitoring staff to ensure professional engagement with guests
- Ordering of all food, beverage, and all cleaning supplies required.
- Report any technical issues or maintenance needs to the Hotel Manager.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of one year food and beverage management experience, preferably in the hotel industry.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession, including knowledge required for management of people and/or problems
- Full understanding of licensing responsibilities and health standards.
- Strong leadership skills, including ability to motivate staff.
- Excellent organization, collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
