**Behavioural Consultant/Specialist**

**Position Description**:
The Behavior Specialist supports an inclusive early learning environment that stimulates the emotional, social, physical, cognitive, language, and creative growth of children.

**Responsibilities**:

- Planning in collaboration with the RECS site team, early learning activities which meet the various needs of the children, and in accordance with the standards and requirements set by Seden Centre policy and practice.
- Consult and collaborate with RECS program staff.
- Create, model and coach regarding intervention strategies for the school setting.
- Provide educational assistants/on-site program staff with specific information on children’s behavioral goals and areas of skill development.
- Assist site team and parents in interpretation of behavioral reports and assessments.
- Work in consultation with Occupational/Speech therapists, Teachers, and Executive Director.
- Complete observations, documentation, formal and informal interviews in the classroom and home environment when needed.
- Conducts research to develop, modify, and enhance strategies.
- Facilitate and/or participate in weekly case consult meetings with, but not exclusive to, Teacher and Supervisor.
- Assist teacher in creating and monitoring measurable behavior goals for ILP.
- Partner with Seden team to model appropriate, positive behavioral strategies with the student.
- Establish supportive and respectful relationships among staff and the children, their families and the community.

Skills and Experience
- Experience working with children ages 2 -5 years old.
- Experience with special needs and Autism is an asset.
- Knowledge of the impact preschool mental health and diagnoses and speech/language delays and disorders have on children.
- Knowledge of proven intervention strategies.
- Basic computer skills

**Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in Psychology, Educational Psychology or related field **related experience including school-based experience with children with autism spectrum disorders and/or severe behaviours (is an asset) ** excellent communication, collaboration and consulting skills

**Other Information**
- This position is for 10 months/year having breaks matching a standard school year (3 weeks during Christmas, 1 week over Fall break and 1 week over Spring break)
- Working conditions will include varied hours and sites working with children in classroom, during outdoor play, and in a variety of school/daycare settings.

Work Schedule: TBD, Operating Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
