Specifically for this position, these are the perks of working in our Team:
- Collaborating with a well-rounded team of like-minded individuals that includes senior regulatory advisors (Water Act, Public Lands Act, municipal), junior to senior aquatic ecologists, junior to senior wildlife biologists, and junior to senior environmental inspectors. The Team is led by Project Managers and Team Leads with years of industry experience and a compassionate approach.
- Working with a team on the regulatory assurance side with construction companies to ensure that environmental features are protected during construction. We work on some of the largest construction projects in the province, and thus, there will be ample opportunities for growth. These projects involve many different facets, including care of water, wildlife management, vegetation management, and erosion and sediment control (ESC).
- Participation in our Construction Inspector & ESC Training Program led by our Senior Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC).
- The opportunity to work towards a Qualitied Aquatic Ecosystem Specialist designation by receiving mentorship from senior staff and gaining experience in:
- fisheries and aquatic environment assessment methods, and
- the determination of mitigation measures required to maintain the productive capacity of the aquatic environment, including fish habitats in Alberta that may be adversely affected by the carrying out of works in and adjacent to the water, bed and shore of water bodies.
**Opportunity Description**
We are seeking individuals who are highly motivated, independent, and committed to working with a diverse group of environmental staff. The daily work scope will be a combination of work task management, fieldwork, and writing technical reports for a variety of clients and service areas. The Environmental Specialist will be exposed to a variety
of projects, including fish and wildlife assessments, environmental risk assessments, Environmental Construction Operations (ECO) Plan development, construction supervision and environmental monitoring, fish rescue, water quality sampling, riparian assessments, monitoring well installation and assessment, and the development and implementation of watercourse reclamation/restoration projects. We are seeking individuals with the following interests:

- Providing high quality of service by being responsive and amenable to project needs.
- Ensure a quality product is delivered and the internal Project Manager is satisfied with the service.
- Following Health, Safety and Environmental Policies, Programs etc. in support of safe workplaces.
- Conducting project tasks on time and within budgets.
- Completing fieldwork, data collection, entry, and report preparation, working with an experienced technical writer.
- Vegetation, bird, amphibian, fish identification, and fish sampling which includes electrofishing.
- Environmental monitoring during construction.
