Casual Meal Program Coordinator

Location(s): Morden Activity Centre, Legion House, Oakwest Estate
Hours of Work: 8:00 am - 2:00 pm (6 hour days)
Days of Work: Monday - Friday

The overall purpose of this position is to provide nutritious meals and social support to seniors and persons with disabilities in a congregate dining setting, which assists them in maintaining their independence and remaining in their community. - Assure a pleasant meal atmosphere.

MEAL SERVICE
- Initiate and supervise the preparation of the food.
VOLUNTEERS
- Work with the Volunteers
- Encourage meal participants and community volunteers to assist with the meal program, including meal preparation, serving, and clean-up.
FINANCIAL
- Keep a record of all purchases.
PERSONNEL
- Keep attendance records of participants and volunteers.
- Maintain a neat and clean personal appearance.
- Maintain communication and good working relationships with participants and volunteers.
- Follow Congregate Meal Program guidelines and adopt any policies that fit the needs of your local and specific areas.
QUALIFICATIONS & ABILITY
- Experience in food preparation
- Ability to coordinate and schedule volunteers.
- Willingness to learn about special cooking, dietary needs or food preparation for seniors.
- Must hold a Food Handling Certificate or be willing to get one.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Meal Coordinator oversees volunteers to ensure meal program standards are being met.
