Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain Operations, the Purchaser is responsible for researching, sourcing, recommending, and purchasing product for the AgriHub Group, including supporting and coordinating with the individual operating companies. The position will research, analyze, and monitor relevant market conditions with a focus on customer needs and wants, and review and analyze competitor products and make recommendations on pricing and promotional activities. The Purchaser is responsible for managing an assigned group of products and researching new product options in the category to drive sales and achieve targets.

**Principal Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Analyze marketing information, sales trends, competitors, demand patterns, and customer data to determine industry and customer trends
- Devise long-term development strategies for product categories; develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products
- Analyze and compare competitors’ products to our products; make recommendations on how to counter competitor products
- Foster strong relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services
- Lead supplier selection process, qualification of alternative sources, development and measurement of KPI’s, supplier scorecards, business reviews, improvement plans, new opportunities, awards, terminations, etc. including savings tracking and ongoing communication to management and stakeholders
- Analysis and review of inventory to ensure the correct product is in stock and in sufficient quantities for demand; creating strategy for moving and discontinuing non-moving stock
- Liaise with General Managers and Sales teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category; work with sales on budget development and revenue for category
- Forecast levels of demand for services and products by analyzing past product activity and keeping abreast of market demand; forecast price trends and their impact on future activities
- Identify and source new suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
- Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers
- Develop, negotiate and administer purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers; evaluate contracts to ensure compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies
- Troubleshoot cost, quality and delivery concerns
- Establish standard operating procedures for purchasing; monitor the effectiveness of procedures; revise and improve purchasing processes
- Attend meetings and trade shows as necessary.

**Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required**
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration or a combination of equivalent education and experience
- 5+ years’ experience in purchasing and supplier contract negotiation
- Knowledge/experience with Microsoft Great Plains is an asset
- Ability to travel including but not limited to visiting supplier and site locations and tradeshows
- Excellent listening, oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical ability
- Flair for negotiation and networking
- Strong tact and diplomacy skills
- Strong project management skills
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Resilience
- French/Spanish/Chinese Language skills is an asset

**Physical and Environmental Requirements of Job**:

- This position allows freedom of movement with periodic sitting, walking and standing. Lifting above 10 lbs is not generally required.
