Job Summary
The Program Manager, Asian Strategies manages a portfolio of university transfer and exchange programs (2+2/3+2/Go Global) of the Faculty of Forestry. The incumbent develops and implements programs, manages and develops systems for international logistics and financial reconciliation/flow of funds for international programs, and performs marketing functions and prepares proposals for new international programs.

Organizational Status
Reports to Assistant Dean, Asian Strategies.

Work Performed

Manages a portfolio of university transfer programs (2+2/3+2/Go Global) of the Faculty of Forestry. For each program:
a) responsible for program development and implementation
b) coordinates the faculty
c) selects, hires, supervises, trains, directs, monitors and evaluates program and activity staff, contractors and consultants.
d) responsible for setting guidelines for the work of staff and for evaluating their performance to determine continuing employment
e) responsible for planning site visits to Asian universities and government offices for visiting delegations; accompanies delegations on site visits as representative of the Faculty of Forestry
f) prepares budgets for each program
g) monitors the students' experience in each program to ensure a high level of satisfaction
- Develops and prepares new international project proposals
- Develops orientation programs within Forestry for new transfer, visiting, and exchange students from partner universities, while making sure that the students can take advantage of the orientation/transition programs that are already being run by UBC as a whole (JumpStart, Gala, International Peer Program, UBC Learning Commons, etc.)
- Develops and maintains effective networks for the 2+2/3+2 students and alumni. Tasks include collecting most updated information from the group, improving current database, connecting alumni through social media, events, and other possible activities, providing opportunities for current 2+2/3+2 students to connect with alumni, exploring internship and Co-op job opportunities, and creating promotion materials for partner universities, prospective students and their parents.
- Designs and delivers group training programs for capacity building, including reaching out potential partners, information collection, program design, conduct feasibility plans and consultation sessions, set up guidelines and standards to manage the group training services as well as measurement tools to assess and evaluate each program.
- Manages and develops systems for international logistics and financial reconciliation/flow of funds for international programs. E.g. sending faculty to teach in the Chinese partner universities, visas, payments, etc.
- Responsible for liaison with faculty members, Program Directors, Student Services staff, Admission Office staff
- Responds to inquiries for possible programs and work with counterparts on developing new programs, including budgets.
- Identifies strategies for marketing of our programs and services in the Asia-Pacific region for enhancing student mobility, faculty exchange and research cooperation, which includes creating promotion materials, presenting at conferences or fairs, organizing site visits, set up new partnerships, maintaining effective communications with partners
- Coordinates with fundraising initiatives and priority projects, including writing proposals, identifying promising partners, exploring strategies to meet target goals as well as developing new partnerships
- Represents the Faculty of Forestry locally and overseas for programs or initiatives.

Errors in judgment may cause serious issues and identifiable deterioration to alumni, faculty, and student relations; reduce services; cause embarrassment to the University; increase event and program costs; and impact negatively the Faculty and University's reputation and accountability with partner universities, students and their families.
