POSITION DESCRIPTION
Your top priority is to motivate shop employees and ensure production efficiency and quality.
- Recognize the contributions of each team member and encourage them to collaborate
- Showcase knowledge and skills to the shop employees by giving them clear direction on how to complete tasks
- Ensure that all shop employees wear proper PPE and clothing before working to safeguard against production hazards
- Participate in and drive safe work conditions and continuous improvement
EXPERIENCE
What you need to be successful
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED
- 5-7 years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Curtain wall industry experience required
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Overview
- Take ownership and accountability of leadership responsibilities_
As a leader, it is your job to guide others safely through their work tasks. Leaders are responsible for both the success and failures of the team. As a result, it is important to take responsibility and pride for assigned job tasks. Accept constructive feedback and help contribute towards the overall solution.
- Communicate clearly and assertively to co-workers_
Express your needs directly, honestly and in an appropriate manner. This approach allows leaders to seek the best possible outcome and helps to maintain a positive relationship.
- Provide prompt and constructive feedback on performance_
Provide constructive feedback that is specific, issue focused, and based on observations. It can be given through praise or criticism. Be direct when delivering a message, be sincere and avoid giving mixed messages. When providing positive feedback, express appreciation and when providing negative feedback, express concern (communicates a sense of importance and care).
- Be proficient in blueprint drawing interpretation_
Be able to understand blueprint drawings and identify how to assemble the unit with proper quality and safety precautions.

Have strong leadership skills
Have strong leadership skills, including: self-awareness, the ability to adapt communication to the situation and the ability to inspire and motivate others.
Engage and motivate employees to enhance production quantity and maintain high production
Encourage positive, desirable behavior that improves the flow of the line through feedback, incentives, rewards and recognition. Encourage employees to develop innovative ideas that could improve current processes.
Lead by example
Act like an owner and make decisions based on the greater good of Harmon and our objectives. Be proactive and accountable. Recognize that there is always a part of the projects that you can impact in a positive way. Exhibit the behavior you wish your employees to emulate.
Train new and current employees
Carry out supervisor responsibilities within Harmon policies
As the first point of contact for employees, you address concerns when they arise. Technical issues can be addressed by the Team Leaders. Issues regarding safety or quality and any employee concerns should be escalated to the Manufacturing Leader.
Partner with the Manufacturing Leader on balancing the line with workers
Determine the skill set of employees within the shop compared to the ideal skill set desired to effectively run the job. Balance employees on all lines to create the best equilibrium possible and achieve the highest productivity and efficiency results.
Manage production of shop personnel
Ensure shop employees are working diligently to meet production goals by motivating, answering questions and providing support when needed.
Actively assist in culture building
Ensure the shop floor is an equitable and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and can thrive through trainings, coaching, and overall strategy and practice.
Participate in the Culture Committee
Partner with area process leads to help define and create strategies for Harmon’s organizational culture goals, working to make Harmon an employer of choice.
Production Management
Meet daily production goals
Monitor the line to ensure employees are working effectively. Delegate and provide support to the line, when needed, to ensure the daily production goals are met.
Address delays and develop corrective measures needed to take
Determine the root cause of issues on the line and develop a plan to resolve issues and communicate to the team when applicable.
Attend daily Tier 2 meeting
Review the production goals, previous targets safety updates, and expected arrival of materials with leaders and office staff.
Lead daily Tier 1 meeting with assigned employees
Review safety updates, quality updates and production updates with all employees on your current project/line. Suggestions and recognitions can also be discussed and are highly recommended during this meeting.
Load and unload truck by hand, and forklift, if needed
