Located in our Port Coquitlam office, our Retrofit/Special Projects Team is seeking a Special Projects Estimator. Reporting to the Director of Service & Retrofit, the Special Projects Estimator will be responsible for analyzing and preparing estimates on a wide variety of construction projects, accurately estimating the direct and indirect competitive costs of compiling a project within a scheduled timeline, and providing material and labour costs for change orders on current projects. The goal is to provide the company with accurate information that will help in operations and strategic planning; acquiring understanding of the requirements of the project/program at hand and select metrics to produce valid estimates; visit sites, warehouses and other venues to gather essential information.

**Responsibilities**:

- Review and understand issues for tender plumbing drawings and specifications
- Prepare estimates of accurate costs of materials, labour and equipment, and subcontracts for construction projects based on contract documents, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications
- Carry out estimating for Mechanical projects - internal and external clients
- Provide assistance to the Design Build team as required
- Maintain and build relationships with clients and sub‐trades
- Provide material and labour take offs for SIs on projects
- Prepare construction budget by studying plans, updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each elevation
- Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price
- Maintain cost keys and price masters by updating information
- Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 3 years of Mechanical Estimating work experience
- Experience with QuickPen AutoBid mechanical estimating software
- Ability to review issued for tender mechanical drawings and specifications
- Strong knowledge in plumbing and understanding of the plumbing code
- Ability to manage vendor relationships and performance
- Knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations
- Able to interact and communicate effectively, both written and oral
- Attention to detail and accuracy is a must
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
