**Overview**:
Nia Centre for the Arts is building Canada’s first professional multi-disciplinary arts centre dedicated to Afro-diasporic art. Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated youth worker who can develop strong relationships with young people? Come and join our team as we launch our first youth-designated space in our new building. This position will focus on supporting all of the Centre’s youth programs which provide a range of services to support the healthy development of Black and racialized youth through mentorship, skills training, employment and opportunities to build positive relationships with their peers and community.

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform a range of responsibilities that are responsive to Youth Programming offerings including afterschool programs, school based programs, workshops and special events
- Develop, plan, and implement workshops that promote skill development, creativity and personal development among young people
- Create a safe, enjoyable and inclusive environment for participants at the Centre
- Create and facilitate lesson plans for daily activities
- Maintain service statistics and support documentation, data collection and reporting that is consistent with the standards and procedures of the program, legislation and practices of the Centre
- Identify service delivery gaps, trends and priorities needed for youth participants and recommends strategies for improvement
- Ensure programs are age/developmentally-appropriate, non-competitive, inclusive
- Assist in ongoing upkeep and maintenance of facilities and resources
- Participate in staff training and professional development, and attend regularly scheduled meetings
- Maintain professional collaborative relationships with peers, members, volunteers, parents and colleagues that contribute to the integrated, seamless delivery of services
- Ensure that safety and well-being practices are implemented; this includes being knowledgeable of emergency procedures, mediating participant disputes, crisis response, and duty to report

**Qualifications**:

- 2+ years experience working with Black and racialized youth ages 12-24
- Relevant work experience and/or college degree in child and youth work/social work or related field (CYW/CYC/SSW)
- Understanding of youth development principles, and a demonstrated commitment and knowledge to working with youth in supporting and creating opportunities for empowerment
- Exhibit organizational time management skills, accountability, reliability, and punctuality
- Facilitation skills in one or more of the following areas: Theater, Visual Arts, Dance, Film, Photography would be ideal
- Strong supervision and program planning skills
- Good decision-making and problem solving skills
- Experience working with diverse populations within the Black community
- Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, as well as ability to escalate issues appropriately
- Positive attitude and willingness to jump in when and where needed
- Current First Aid and CPR training preferred
- Police Reference Check (to be completed upon hiring)

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 30-37.5 per week

**Salary**: $23.00-$25.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
