Overview
The Materials Estimator specializing in Drainage Products at Independent Mechanical Supply (IMS), plays a crucial role in profitably growing project business. This role requires a keen eye for detail, proficiency in drain-related materials, and a commitment to continuous learning and development.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Product Identification and Interpretation**:
- Accurately identify and interpret plumbing products related to drainage products on job specifications, scopes of work, and RFQs.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of drain-related terminology to ensure precision in product identification.
**Bid Entry and Management**:
- Enter bids into Independent's ERP system.
- Ensure bids are accurately presented to end-users or outside sales representatives, adhering to related specifications.
**Profit Maximization and Value Proposition**:
- Identify opportunities to maximize profit for the company within acceptable specifications for drainage-related products.
- Provide valuable suggestions to customers that align with their needs and specifications while ensuring profitability for IMS.
**Vendor Relationships**:
- Read, understand, and stay familiar with relevant vendor catalogues, emphasizing drainage-related products.
- Develop positive relationships with vendors to create favorable business conditions, including improved margins and accurate delivery dates for drain-related materials.
**Customer Relationships**:
- Establish and nurture relationships with customers, positioning IMS as their primary choice for purchasing drainage materials.
- Collaborate with customers to understand their unique requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
**Pricing Strategies**:
- Regularly contact vendors to maintain system pricing, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness in drain-related product pricing.
- Negotiate project pricing with vendors to enhance profitability while adhering to project specifications.
**Documentation and Communication**:
- Assemble approval drawing and maintenance manual packages for outside sales representatives and customers, utilizing drain-specific terminology.
- Present documentation in both hard copy (paper) format and electronically as required.
**Continuous Learning and Team Support**:
- Embrace a commitment to learning and development, staying updated on industry trends and advancements in drain-related products.
- Actively support the growth of other team members by sharing knowledge and skill sets related to drains and plumbing materials.
**Qualifications**:
- Proven experience in estimating materials, with a focus on plumbing products, specifically drains and drainage products.
- Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven fast paced environment;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Order Entry Software and Internet Information Gathering/Research
- Demonstrated analytical, organizational and planning skills.
- Established history of demonstrating the ability to pay attention to detail;
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Customer centric. Obsessive about Providing Excellent Customer Service.
