Plumbing Materials Estimator

Oakville, Canada Independent Mechanical Supply Inc. Full time

Under the direction of the Project Quotations Manager, the Junior Estimator will work as a member of a team dedicated to profitably growing the plumbing and hydronics project business at Independent Mechanical Supply.
The incumbent will work on project business coming from multiple sources including, but not limited to, the following market segments: Industrial/Institutional MRO RFQ, Government MRO RFQ, Bid Specification, P3, and Design Build.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Accurately identify and interpret plumbing products on a job specification/scope of work/RFQ that are to be quoted by Independent Mechanical Supply
- Assemble approval drawing and maintenance manual packages for outside sales representatives and customers in either hard copy (paper) format or electronically
- Accurately enter bids into Independent’s ERP system to be presented to either the end user or the outside sale representative under the direction of the Project Quotations Manager
- Look for and suggest ways to maximize profits for the company and provide value to the customer within the acceptable specifications
- Read, understand and be familiar with relevant vendor catalogues
- Develop relationships with vendors that will create favourable business conditions (greater margin and accurate delivery dates) for Independent Mechanical Supply (IMS)
- Develop relationships with customers that positions Independent as their first choice for purchasing plumbing materials
- Regularly contact vendors to maintain system pricing and request project pricing (as required) through negotiation, where possible, for improved profitability
- Other duties as assigned

- Obsessed with exceeding expectations
- Experience with and/or knowledge of plumbing & heating products sold by wholesale plumbing distributors
- Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven fast paced environment
- Experience suggesting and implementing changes to processes and procedures
- Desire to continually be educated in the requirements of the position
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Adobe Acrobat, Order Entry Software, and Internet Information Gathering/Research
- Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and planning skills
- Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills
- Established history of demonstrating the ability to pay attention to detail
- Customer centric and dedicated to providing excellent Customer Service
