Position Overview
The General Manager (GM) is the senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the overall operations of House of Dawn Steakhouse. The GM ensures smooth day-to-day service, drives financial performance, maintains high hospitality standards, and leads both front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) teams in alignment with the brand’s vision. This role requires a balance of strategic leadership, operational excellence, and guest-centric service.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Recruit, train, mentor, and develop FOH staff; collaborate with the Executive Chef on BOH alignment.
Establish clear performance standards and conduct regular evaluations.
Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and hospitality excellence.
Lead daily pre-shift briefings, weekly management meetings, and ongoing training.
Guest Experience
Ensure every guest receives exceptional service consistent with House of Dawn standards.
Proactively manage floor operations, engaging with guests to build relationships and resolve concerns.
Oversee reservations, private dining, and VIP experiences.
Operations & Compliance
Manage daily FOH operations, including scheduling, inventory, ordering, and cash controls.
Ensure compliance with BC liquor laws, health & safety regulations, and labour standards.
Maintain systems for cleanliness, service consistency, and operational efficiency.
Financial & Business Management
Monitor sales, labour costs, and operating expenses to achieve budgetary goals.
Work with ownership to analyze P&L statements and identify opportunities for growth.
Support marketing initiatives, partnerships, and event activations.
Brand & Community Engagement
Uphold the House of Dawn brand through consistent service, storytelling, and presentation.
Collaborate with marketing on social media presence, influencer partnerships, and promotional events.
Represent the restaurant within the local community and industry networks.
**Qualifications**:
5+ years of progressive management experience in upscale or fine-dining restaurants.
Proven ability to manage both FOH operations and cross-functional collaboration with BOH.
Strong financial acumen, including P&L management and labour cost control.
Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
Deep knowledge of wine, cocktails, and premium steakhouse culture (asset: sommelier or WSET certification).
Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
