**About Us**:
We are a new entrant in the food and beverage industry with a focus on plant-based food products that are tasty, sustainable and convenient. Our core team has over 100 combined years of culinary, marketing, engineering, and food science expertise in creating and developing novel and innovative products.
**About the Position**:
The R&D Chef will have a primary role in the Product Development team located in Richmond, BC. You will be responsible for the development of innovative food products, samples, processes in the kitchen and to provide culinary creativity in the field of plant-based foods.
**Responsibilities**:
Leadership
- Participate, collaborate and communicate with your team members to ensure a caring and supportive work environment is achieved
- Follows all policies, procedures and practices for a smooth operation
- Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with those within the company and any suppliers, vendors and customers
Innovation
- Work directly with functional leaders (Product, Sales, Marketing) to support ideation and develop innovative new products
- Support R&D team with the technical aspects of discovery/ innovation through the investigation, planning, pipeline development, execution, evaluating and reporting on new product development, product and process improvements, troubleshooting projects and cost savings
- Partner with Quality to maintain benchmarking practices for the testing of our new products and competitive products with action plans to address any quality gaps
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Staying current on industry best practices and current food industry trends.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, and project management skills
- Comfortable working in a start-up environment
- Generate different builds/presentations of products with a focus on aesthetics and the eating experience
- And any other duties requested by supervisor

**Requirements**:
- Prefer minimum 10-years’ experience in restaurant business as Head Chef or equivalent. CPG R&D experience a plus.
- Sushi experience
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Chef school, marketing or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- An artistic and creatively individual with strong analytical skills and curiosity to create novel products.
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Full-time, permanent position requiring flexible hours as required to achieve business objectives.
- R&D Kitchen and laboratory environment
- Ability to travel internationally with valid passport
