**Job Description - Live-In Camp Counsellor**

**Location**: McGill University, Montreal, Quebec
**Camp Dates**: Full-time, 4-week commitment in July
**Position Type**: Seasonal - Live-in Role
**Compensation**: Includes accommodation and meals on campus + weekly honorarium
**Age of Campers**: 13-17 years old
**Languages**: English (required), French (an asset)

ELI Camps is an international English and French language immersion camp dedicated to helping young learners explore language and culture through classroom instruction and meaningful city experiences. Our Montreal location, based at McGill University, brings together students from around the world for a one-of-a-kind summer of learning, connection, and discovery.

**Position Overview**

Live-In Camp Counsellors play a vital role in the camper experience, serving as mentors, leaders, and safety supervisors during evenings and overnights. Counsellors live in residence with campers and help create a fun, safe, and supportive environment for international students aged 9 to 17 with varying levels of English and French.

This role runs from **6:00 PM to 9:00 AM** daily and includes facilitating evening excursions, organizing campus activities, overseeing nighttime routines, and supporting students in the residence halls.

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Evening Programming (6:00 PM - 9:30 PM)**:

- Lead engaging activities such as soccer, music, board games, and arts & craftsSupervise and guide students during excursions across Montreal (Old Port, festivals, museums, etc.)
- **Residence Supervision (9:30 PM - 9:00 AM)**:
Ensure students are in their rooms on time and follow residence rulesProvide overnight support and be available for any student needs or emergenciesConduct nightly room checks and maintain a calm, safe environment
- **Morning Duties**:
Help students wake up and get readyEnsure students line up and are on time for their 9:00 AM classes
- Act as a role model, upholding camp values and encouraging inclusion and positivity
- Report any incidents or concerns to senior staff promptly**Qualifications**:

- Experience working with youth, ideally in a residential or camp setting
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Fluent in English; conversational French is a strong asset
- Knowledge of Montreal, its culture and places is a must.
- Energetic, empathetic, and responsible
- Able to live on-site in student residence for the full duration of the camp (July)
- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred or must be willing to obtain)
