Calgary, Canada Mainroad Chinook Contracting LP Full time

Mainroad Chinook Contracting LP is seeking a dedicated Operator/Bridge Worker to join our expanding team In this position, you will play a vital role in civil infrastructure maintenance. This position is based out of Rocky View County, Alberta and will report to the Road Manager.

**Who we are**:
Mainroad Chinook Contracting LP has been contracted by Chinook Highway Operations Inc. - a partnership between SNC-Lavalin Operations & Maintenance Inc. and Acciona Concessions Canada (2008) Inc. The maintenance contract includes services such as road repair, snow-removal and lighting maintenance for the Southeast Stoney Trail (SEST). The Southeast Stoney Trail (SEST) Project is a public-private partnership (P3) between the Alberta Government and Chinook Roads Partnership and is one of the largest single P3 highway infrastructure projects in Alberta’s history. Mainroad Chinook Contracting is part of the Mainroad Group which is an employee-owned company recognized for providing safe, reliable, and innovative services across Canada.

- Operating highway maintenance/snow removal equipment.

**What you bring**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Class 3 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement and a clean driver’s abstract, or willingness to obtain a Class 3Q license;
- Minimum two years’ experience in highway maintenance, construction, or a closely related field;
- Minimum two years’ experience in bridge maintenance such as form work and sealing;
- Knowledge of the Alberta Bridge Inspection and Maintenance System (BIM) would be an asset
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, or a closely related field would be an asset;
- Thorough knowledge of the Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations;
- Able to work various shifts, call-outs, weekends, and overtime, as required;
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions;
- Mechanical aptitude and quick learning ability;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to adapt, solve problems, and think quickly;
- Capable of performing heavy physical labour;
- Team-oriented, dedicated and committed;
- Safety conscious, willingness to learn and practice safe work habits, and actively participate in worksite safety; and
- Comfortable working on top of and under bridge structures of varying heights.

**This role involves a range of job duties, which include, but are not limited to**:

- Operating and driving trucks with a GVW greater than 23,000kgs
- Performing a wide range of routine and complex repairs to timber, concrete, and steel bridges, including maintenance, joint repairs, deck patching, and cleaning;
- Sanding, plowing snow, and salting highways/roads during snow events;
- Recording and promptly reporting any items requiring repair, maintenance, or cleaning on appropriate documentation;
- Physical labour including, patching potholes, and other physical activities;
- Inspecting multi-use pathways, highway shoulders, and interchanges to ensure debris is removed;
- Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections/checks on vehicles to ensure safe operation;
- Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of other road users;
- Traffic control (as required); and
- Other job duties as required.
