**Job Summary**
The Early Childhood Educator serves the mission of the YMCA of Lethbridge by providing quality programming and care for children in the centre. The main goals of this position are:
1. Facilitate engaging and educational learning through various activities
2. Building and developing age-appropriate lessons plans
3. Ensuring the safety of children enrolled in the centre
**Key Relationships**
- YMCA of Lethbridge before and after school care participants and their guardians
- BASC Centre staff and volunteers
- Senior Licensed Program Manager
**Nature & Scope**
The BASC Early Childhood Educator will support the Before and After School program, the responsibilities for this position are, but not limited to:
- Execute program plans that allow participants choice, opportunities for leadership, a focus on strengths and encourage a place that is fun, active and different from school through use of the ‘A Place to Connect’ curriculum
- Adapting program lesson plans to guide participants with different skills and abilities
- Communicating developmental achievements and daily updates to guardians
- Ensuring all program participants are engaging in activities safely and that facility equipment is in good condition
- Collaborating as a team member, communicating effectively with other employees, volunteers, and participants
- Demonstrating ‘SAM Standards’ throughout the facility
- Ensuring YMCA policies and procedures are always being met and maintained through the YMCA Core Values
- Participating in all required YMCA training, recertifications and in-service trainings
**Schedules**
Monday - Friday 6:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Monday - Thursday 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday 11:00 a.m. - 6:00p.m.
**Physical/Special Demands**
- This position involves active participation in active play-based programs
- This position includes regular duties of lifting up to 20 kg
**Qualifications and Experience**
- Early Childhood Educator certificate (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3)
- Current Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C certifications
- Evidence of an acceptable Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
- Evidence of an acceptable Child Intervention Check
- Three professional references required
**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: $17.00-$19.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday

- Lethbridge, AB T1J 5L4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
