Our Strength is People." is a true expression of our belief that our people are our competitive advantage. **ArcelorMittal Dofasco** **Global Research and Development Department** **Researcher - Product Innovation** **(Permanent Position)** **Primary Function** **Duties and Responsibilities**: - Run R&D projects, developing or transferring new advanced products to AMD (with a focus on AHSS Automotive grades), ensuring that developments are done in a timely manner, while considering the capabilities of AMD equipment. - Assist in the assessment of AMD equipment capabilities for future AHSS grades. - Conduct lab scale development work to design the chemistry and processing conditions for new AHSS products. - Conduct plant trials and analyze the trial results as a member of cross-functional product development team. - Analyze production data and provide solutions to improve the properties of current products and manufacturability of AHSS grades. - Evaluate mechanical properties and microstructures of the products (tensile test, bend test, hole expansion test, optical microscope, SEM, XRD, etc.). - Communicate project results in reports, presentations and publications. - Interact with plant personnel as well as members of ArcelorMittal Global R&D. **Qualifications**: - A university degree (Ph.D. or Master’s degree preferred) in Materials Science and Engineering or Metallurgy. - 5+ years of working experience in development of steel products is considered an asset. - Solid knowledge in the following areas: - physical metallurgy, heat treatment and material characterization of steels - mechanical behavior of steels - statistics (design of experiments, data analysis and model formulation) - manipulation and analysis of data - Hands on experience in material characterization and result interpretation. - Medium to advanced command on computer standard software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with SQL, PowerApps, Python, PowerBI an asset. - Ability to work as a team member on cross-functional projects. - Ability to work under minimum supervision. - Must have interpersonal skills with strong oral, presentation and written communication skills. **Total Rewards at ArcelorMittal Dofasco** - We provide employees with a market competitive total compensation package.
