This vacancy is for a period of 12 months due to a special project.

**SUMMARY OF DUTIES**

Reporting to the Market Manager, Hamilton Farmers’ Market, the Coordinator plans, coordinates and implements cultural, special event, demonstration kitchen and performance space activities. The Market Presentation Coordinator works closely with community groups and individuals to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality events and programmes promoting the goals of the Hamilton Farmers’ Market to be a community gathering place and to nourish and inspire the Hamilton community.

**GENERAL DUTIES**
- Researches, develops, coordinates, organizes, publicizes, implements and evaluates programmes presented by the Hamilton Farmers’ Market including curriculum-relevant educational programmes, workshops, seminars, lectures, group tours and major and minor special events utilizing the demonstration kitchen.
- Delivers and evaluates non-traditional education programmes.
- Conducts all necessary administration relating to programmes including sells workshop and event tickets, balances cash and maintains associated records.
- Recruits, directs and co-ordinates students and volunteers for programmes and events and associated administration.
- Organizes and implements, including setup and dismantling, of programme material, equipment and promotional displays.
- Prepares flyers and programme material. Reviews and edits materials prepared by others to ensure consistency in format.
- Represents the Hamilton Farmers’ Market, where needed, at off site functions.
- Coordinates rentals, including booking forms and associated records.
- Receives and answers visitor inquiries.
- Records bookings for programmes and other clerical/reception duties.
- Operates audio visual equipment.
- Responsible for visitors’ safety.
- Works in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the job.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Previous programming experience related to duties listed above normally acquired through a combination of education and related work experience in Museum Studies, Culinary Studies, Leisure Studies or related field.
- Experience in developing, implementing, delivering and evaluating non-traditional education programmes.
- Previous event planning experience such as coordinating, planning and implementing programmes.
- Experience in a computerized environment. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office XP (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and be able to input data at an acceptable speed. Able to prepare spreadsheets. Knowledge of Desktop Publishing would be considered an asset.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing at all organizational levels and with the general public with tact and professionalism.
- Must possess initiative, good judgement and the ability to provide guidance and take a leadership role when necessary.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Must be physically capable of lifting 50 lbs.
