**Compensation**$22.64/hour (inclusive of Provincial Wage Enhancement Grant) or dependent upon current level within Schoolhouse Playcare

**The Position**
Reporting to the Supervisor of Child Care, the Registered Early Childhood Educator is responsible for the overall learning and care of the children in the program. With a sound knowledge of child development, the Registered Early Childhood Educator will develop and implement programs, maintain safe environments, work collaboratively with families and the community, maintain professional relationships, uphold professional standards, and adhere to all regulations that pertain to the Registered Early Childhood Educator and the delivery of licensed childcare.
**_Responsibilities: _**
- Ensures all children and families are provided with a high-quality childcare experience, and provides ongoing support to families as needed
- Recognizes and celebrates the uniqueness of all children, builds rapport, and manages group behaviour while ensuring a physically and psychologically safe environment
- Plans and implements a play-based program that is responsive to the observed interests and developmental needs of the children, while integrating the Provincial framework “How Does Learning Happen?”
- Utilizes Storypark® to convey the experience, development and learning of children in the program. Completes all required documentation of children’s development and interactions
- Adheres to all requirements outlined in the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), and all SPC Policies and Procedures
- Acts with integrity and adheres to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice (College of Early Childhood Educators) within their workplace and the community
- Adheres to work schedule to ensure program stays within ratio and provides adequate notice to supervisor regarding unexpected scheduling changes
- Attends and fully participates in all employee orientation, training, meetings, and family events as outlined by the Supervisor
- Communicates professionally with colleagues, families, partners, and other SPC employees
- Acts as a positive role model and reflects the values of the organization
- Able to lift, push, pull up to 30 lbs. in an infant/toddler/preschool classroom
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent planning and program facilitation skills
- Ability to develop rapport, meet the individual needs of children and positively manage group behaviour
- Excellent collaboration and team skills
- Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Professional work ethic and ability to maintain confidentiality
- College Diploma or University Degree in Early Childhood Education, and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Valid up to date Standard First Aid with CPR C (prior to the start of the position)
- Experience working with children within a recreational or licensed childcare setting
- Solid understanding of child development and ability to effectively respond to individual/unique needs
- Experience and ability to work with families within a recreational or licensed childcare setting
- Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
