The job’s primary responsibility is to participate in the development of the curriculum around soccer-related activities reflecting the goals of long-term student-athlete skill development - both in indoor and outdoor games. The job builds, modifies, and delivers formative assessment drills and exercises to enhance student skill levels.

The job also conducts a comprehensive evaluation of skills and growth within the six sections of the program. The job assists in the recruitment of students and off-site promotion of the program to support sustainability and growth.

The job is directly supervised by working closely with the department head and receiving direction and guidance from a teacher.

**Responsibilities**:

- Build and modify drills and exercises as building blocks
- Plan programs consistent with the current and future needs of student development
- Present information in a manner that is understandable and appropriate for student participation and success.
- Organize soccer-related practice, instructional games, and drills
- Demonstrate and lead practice plans to provide visual comprehension
- Provide immediate and instantaneous feedback for student-athletes
- Create written evaluations of students based on daily training and observation
- Develop, maintain, and update daily progress reports
- Generate quarterly assessments on each student
- Provide positive and constructive evaluations that accurately reflect the student’s progress
- Tabulate and configure performance testing
- Maintain records of testing and scoring results
- Rank students based on obtained results included in evaluations and used for year-end results
- Engage in interviews with students and parents
- Meet with students to discuss evaluations and provide feedback on a regular basis
- Meet with parents and students, on a quarterly basis, to discuss student improvement
- Provide information on current student status and class performance/behavior
- Assist in the development of curriculum and daily practice plans
- Develop, modify, and improve instruction according to skill development
- Assist with organizing out-of-town competitions
- Administer and assess Canadian Soccer Association coaching courses for all levels
- Instruct and provide the basis for course completion
- Observe and correct practice lessons developed by the students
- Evaluate and grade course requirements including on-field sessions and corresponding written plans
- Organize off-field learning and development activities
- Deliver lectures on specific principles and tactics relevant to the program focus
- Test and grade students based on lectures and handouts/information provided
- Evaluate presentations and modify them to enhance learning and development
- Provide students with relevant information to prepare for post-secondary schooling
- Evaluate and help to improve students' post-secondary projects created using handouts and information provided
- Review and focus on students' three-year academic plans for successful graduation and selection of appropriate post-secondary institution
- Record attendance for academy activities
- Maintain log for school and program records
- Maintain technical knowledge and professional certifications through a range of professional development activities

**Job Qualifications**
- Diploma or degree in an area related to Sports Management, Recreation, or Sports Administration, plus three years of directly related coaching experience at the national level
- Canadian National B Coaching Certification
- Knowledge of various coaching and instructional methods and styles as appropriate to the needs of the players and group
- Understanding the physical and physiological demands of playing the game is required to devise specific training and conditioning programs
- Knowledge of the body, movements, mechanics, and nutrition
- Understanding of sports injuries, prevention, basic treatment, and care, plus certification in First Aid and CPR
- Knowledge of current and emerging coaching techniques; instructional techniques in a school environment; project management techniques
- Knowledge of records management principles and FOIP Legislation
- Knowledge of workplace safety and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety regulations
- General knowledge of school/Division programs, objectives, goals, and operations
