The High River General Hospital Auxiliary Term Care Centre (LTC) is home to 50 Elderly Residents. Nestled 66.5 kms south of Calgary in the beautiful community of High River, Alberta. The vibrant High River Hospital offers an excellent rural care giver opportunity in a unique and diverse Alberta health services care facility. The Health Care Aide (HCA) in LTC works in a Resident Family Centered Care environment that focuses on meeting the comprehensive and complex care needs of the Residents and their families in a home like setting. The HCA will work diligently to enhance the Residents activities of daily living by providing compassionate Resident centered care.
Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team providing personal assistance including supporting activities of daily living and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this position you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities assisting nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs, assisting with organized activities or programs and observing and reporting on a patient's mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under a regulated health professional you will be assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, and maintaining effective communication with patients and health professionals.

Previous Long Term Care Nursing Experience preferred. 1-2 years Caregiver Experience in an Adult Clinical Care Setting preferred. Completion of Supportive Pathways or equivalent dementia care education or experience will be considered a preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as member of a care team. Palliative Care experience will be considered a preferred.
