**Course description**:
(Offered in English) A study of the most critically acclaimed and/or financially successful Italian films. Students also consider the differences and similarities in audience reception, depending on where (in Italy or abroad) films are released. Films analyzed include _Bicycle Thieves_, _The_ _Great Beauty_,_ Life Is Beautiful_, _The Postman_.

**Sessional dates of appointment**: September 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025

**Salary**:
Sessional Lecturer I - $9,820.70 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $10,510.04 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II - $10,510.04 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,760.28 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III - $10,760.28 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $11,030.36 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

**Minimum qualifications**:
Ph.D. in Italian Studies is required.

Demonstrated knowledge in the specific area of the course (neorealism, contemporary Italian cinema, cinema studies, etc.), is required.

Native, or near-native, fluency in Italian is required.

**Preferred qualifications**:
Demonstrated excellence and experience teaching this course or a closely-related course is preferred.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
