Pasta Machine Operator, Filling Preparation

**FUNCTION**:
As a member of the Olivieri Delta Production team, this Associate will execute the preparation and manufacture of our pasta filling through the operation of equipment, the handling of ingredients, and the cleaning and sanitation of their line. The Associate will do this in cooperation with his/her team members in a safe and food-safe manner.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Make filling according to recipe and proper documentation.
- Put filling into buckets with automated filling extractor.
- Weigh filling and enter amounts into SAP.
- Work closely with runner to manage ingredients
- Work closely with Lead Hand and Supervisor to meet schedule requirements.
- Work closely with R&D on new formulations and samples.
- Weigh ingredients.
- Label ingredients properly.
- Understand and abide by FEFO (First Expired, First Out).
- Maintain 5S in the area.
- Keep spice room tidy.
- Cover for Machine Operators during breaks.
- Basic Preventative Maintenance on equipment.
- Basic sanitation of Butcher Boy and other Fill Prep Equipment.
- Must be a team player, willing to jump in and support to ensure production requirements are met.
- Work in a cold environment as filling will be prepared in the WIP cooler.
- Work within SAP for batch managed ingredients.

**Operator responsibilities**:

- Assembly of equipment at start up.
- Timely and organized changeovers of equipment as required.
- Troubleshooting and adjustment of all other areas of the pasta making process.
- Provide key feedback where corrective actions may be required (through work orders, verbal communication to relevant staff, etc.)
- Produce product to meet provided specifications while ensuring mínimal waste.
- Communicate with Lead hand or Production Supervisor any issue that will jeopardize the efficiency of the line.
- Provide assistance to the packaging team when needed to pack product on the line.
- All operators will have the responsibility to check all required CCP’s (Critical Control Point) at specific times following a detailed process.
- Must have received CCP training for this position.
- Must work within the SAP system.
- Must inform QA or Production Supervisor any time product is or is suspect of not meeting company standards in either area.
- Adhere to all of the Company’s rule, policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties/jobs throughout the plant as assigned by Supervisor.
- Must be able to rotate positions within the production area as required.
- Wear authorized color-coded smocks, plastic protective sleeves, and other related PPE’s when performing the job.

**Sanitation**:

- Responsible for maintaining the highest levels of Food Safety
- Understand their role in making Food Safety the number one priority
- Responsible for maintaining the high standards of cleanliness required by the Company and CFIA
- Must ensure consistent cleanliness of assigned equipment and plant areas as per SSOP’s
- Responsible for understanding and use of proper sanitation/cleaning procedures and techniques
- Responsible for proper disassembly and assembly of equipment parts
- Must follow all company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Sanitation SOPs
- Must be capable to work with CIP systems, tanks, piping and other equipment
- Must be able to learn, understand and safely use portable foaming equipment, foaming and sanitization stations
- Must be willing to work flexible shifts and weekend
- Will be required to perform physically demanding work (lifting, bending, twisting)
- Must have excellent work ethics and attendance record
- Must be flexible and have proven ability to cope with constant change in a dynamic working environment. Must be willing to contribute to a safe working environment
- Working knowledge of the principles of sanitation
- Previous experience with safe handling of chemicals
- Previous experience operating machinery and/or mechanically inclined
- Self-starter who is able to work under minimum supervision. Knowledge of WHMIS

**OPERATION OF MOBILE EQUIPMENT**
- Must have received and passed training for the safe operation of a mobile power jack.
- Must operate said equipment in such a manner as not to damage equipment or introduce foreign contaminants into the product.

**FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY CONTROL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Must comply with all GMP (General Manufacturing Practices) and understand the importance of Food Safety as the key priority in our business.
- Must comply with all other food safety rules and practices and Sanitation SOP’s (Standard Operating procedures).
- Actively maintain good housekeeping of the work areas.
- Actively observe and maintain the expected product quality when running the production line.
- Measure and monitor CCP’s reliably and accurately
- Monitor and fill in all required documentation

**HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Must follow all Health and Safety rules of the company consistently.
- Must be able to safely operate and assemble/disassemble equipment.
