**Position Description**:
The Animal Attendant provides complete cleaning and janitorial services including routine processing of soiled cages, instruments and used linen; operates and maintains minor and major equipment. The attendant is to follow the regular work schedule and / or checklist posted in the assigned area and meet the facility requirements (SOPs) and standards. Takes responsibility for the assigned areas and communicates on any issues during the daily supervisory rounds.

**Here is What You'll Get to Do**:

- Cleaning, sanitising and/or sterilising rodent and large animal cages, surgical instruments, soiled linen, tools and accessories.
- Operating large cage washers and sterilising equipment including rack washer, tunnel washer, autoclave, sonic washer & dryer, linen laundry, automatic watering systems and automatic bedding dispenser.
- Maintaining and up keeping of all major and minor equipment that are used in daily facility operations and janitorial activities.
- Sweeping, mopping and sanitising floors, halls / rooms including walls, ceilings, operating rooms, washrooms, lunchrooms and other service areas as per standardised schedule.
- Removing, collecting and disposing of trash from various areas of the facility to the waste receptacles based on established procedures.
- Receiving, Stocking, Dispensing and Restocking all supply materials used in the facility, including feed, bedding, surgical tools & supplies.
- The attendant is often assigned to one area of the facility but must gain a full knowledge of entire workflow of Facility Support Services team (as per established procedures applicable areas).
- Other work responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor, including cage wash and surgical areas.

**Here is What You'll Need**:

- Should be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs (feed bags). This is a physically demanding position.
- Valid Driver’s license.
- Ability to understand and follow facility/hospital protocols, policies and procedures.
- Be reliable and responsible team player and willing to tackle / problem solve any other assigned duties.
- Highest regard to safety and quality while performing daily duties.
- Be flexible, motivated and can work independently.

**Skills or Experience Desired**
- Experience in other animal facilities or research labs.
- Basic knowledge of animal facility functions and daily workflow.
