We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Teacher’s Assistant to join our Home Education Team. Our two children (elementary aged) have additional learning needs (Level 1 ASD (PDA), ADHD). These needs are currently best met outside of a conventional classroom. As a Behaviour Support Teacher’s Assistant, you will support the Special Education Teacher in implementing engaging lesson plans and creating an inclusive learning environment. You will also provide supervision and facilitate non-academic experiences during the regular work week. This role requires a willingness and ability to learn. Somebody who takes initiative and is flexible. We are seeking someone who is energized by the fields of neurodiversity, inclusion and trauma-informed care. Our Home Education Team is supported by a Behaviour Consultant who provides guidance with a holistic approach to achieve behavioural goals. This role will include implementing feedback from the Behaviour Consultant. This role is based out of our private residence and includes time spent throughout the community in locations such as libraries, museums, recreation centres and parks. Our children are very active and enjoy the outdoors. They play musical instruments. There is a dog and a cat at the home. This job is a temporary, full-time, position to cover maternity/parental leave. This role includes summer employment (includes paid vacation that can be taken throughout the year). Start date July 2nd, 2025. Pay will be competitive with the Educational Assistant Salary Grid in Calgary, AB. **Responsibilities**: - Support the implementation of lesson plans under the direction of the Special Education Teacher. - Utilize various support methods to accommodate different learning styles including play-based learning. - Assist in conducting the "classroom" in the home, community, and outdoors. - Proactively implement behavior management strategies. - Support the use of educational technology tools and platforms. - Transport students to and from learning/recreational locations. - Participate in recreational activities as required to support the involvement of the students. - Light food preparation. **Qualifications**: - Completion of an Educational Assistant Certificate or the completion of a Psychology degree, ABA (holistic), RBT, or NVCI or other behaviour training. - At least one year of experience working with children with significant special needs. - Current First Aid and CPR certification. - Clear criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check. **Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract Pay: $24.00-$32.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Schedule: - Monday to Friday Application question(s): - Please briefly describe your experience supporting children with behavioural support needs.
