**Role**: Market Manager - Pitt Meadows Farmers Market
**Hours of Work**: Part-Time, Seasonal, 22-25 hours per week for 22 weeks + 25 hours pre/post season planning
**Compensation**: $21/hour plus vacation pay
**Location**: Hybrid - Remote and Spirit Square, Pitt Meadows on Market Days
**Reporting to**: Executive Director
**Start Date: April 14th to last market (week of September 22nd)**

Fraser North Farmers Market Society is the home of the Haney, Pitt Meadows, and Port Coquitlam Farmers Markets. With a goal to create community, sustainability, and access to local goods, Fraser North Farmers Market Society is where the locals love to shop.
As a Not-for-Profit organization, the Society relies on the generosity of donors to fund their programs and services. Through individual and corporate giving, grants, special events, and major gifts and bequests, the Society directs and stewards its funds with the strategic guidance and fiduciary oversight from its Board of Directors.
**About the Role: Market Manager**
**Responsibilities**
Operational Market Management
- Attend and manage all weekly Tuesday markets
- Oversee and aid in market set-up, arriving before the market opens and remaining until the end of tear-down and clean-up
- Manage on-site staff and volunteers, community groups, and entertainers
- Recruit new volunteers
- Provide answers to shoppers’ questions
- Enforce vendor rules and regulations
- Track and report visitor and vendor attendance at the market
- Maintain excellent relations with vendors and address and resolve any conflicts
- Liaise with municipal officials and comply with their requirements
- Manage market information tent
- Manage special events at the market, including weekly partnership events, Canada Day, Indigenous Peoples Day, etc.
- Maintain market equipment and report all issues to the Executive Director
Organizational Administration
- Plan, coordinate, and schedule events and activities throughout the season, including musical performances, community groups, etc.
- Maintain lists of vendors, volunteers, community groups, and musicians, and report statistical information for each market day to the Executive Director
- Prepare weekly vendor reminders and site plans
- Plan and execute all administrative aspects of special events, including scheduling vendors, obtaining permits, promotion, on-site management, and fiscal reconciliation
- Collect, record, and report Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP) information to be reimbursed to vendors
- Submit FMNCP coupons and participating vendor records to the BC Association of Farmers Markets (BCAFM)
- Conduct other administrative duties as required
Financial Administration
- Together with the Executive Director, develop a budget and track expenditures throughout the season to ensure spending is within set amounts
- Maintain petty cash financial records
Marketing and Communications
- Contribute relevant content to blog and monthly newsletter
- Execute marketing and promotional initiatives to increase business at the market
- Recruit, train, and coordinate with new volunteers
- Maintain relationships with other market managers
Other duties as assigned.
**Experience**
- Preferred 1+ years of work experience in a similar role
- Education or experience working in management, community-building, communications or other related disciplines
- Passionate and knowledgeable about farmers markets and the local food sector in BC
**Knowledge, Skills, and Capacities**
- Strong time management skills and is detail oriented
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
- Strong event planning and customer service skills
- Enjoys working in a fast paced environment and being outside in all weather conditions
- Enjoys physical activity and getting involved
- Self-directed, reliable, responsible, and flexible
- Be able to lift up to 30 kg
- Hold a valid BC drivers license with a good driving record and has the ability to drive the market van to and from the market, if required
- Familiarity with the region is an asset
- Experience or familiarity with the not-for-profit sector
- Knowledge and awareness of policies and guidelines related to farmers markets is an asset
**Deadline and How to Apply**
**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 5.5 months
Pay: $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 22 - 25 per week
