**Job Overview**:

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Plan and lead engaging chess lessons for K-8 students of varying skill levels.
- Teach the fundamentals of chess, including game rules, tactics, strategies, and sportsmanship.
- Adapt lessons to accommodate different ages and experience levels.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages learning and friendly competition.
- Set up and manage equipment and materials before and after class.
- Monitor student progress and encourage critical thinking and problem-solving through gameplay.

**Qualifications**:

- Prior experience teaching chess to children (formal or informal) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of chess rules, strategies, and basic tournament formats.
- Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
- Ability to explain complex ideas in a clear, age-appropriate manner.
- Energetic, patient, and enthusiastic personality.
- Reliable transportation to travel to after-school program locations.
