**OVERVIEW**:
The **Forklift Operator** is responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts to handle materials, maintain accurate inventory records, and fulfill orders. Reporting to the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, this role emphasizes strict adherence to safety standards, including equipment inspections and hazard prevention, while also requiring accuracy in managing stock and verifying shipments. The Forklift Operator collaborates closely with Production Supervisors, Shipping & Receiving and other team members to coordinate workflows, address challenges, and ensure operational goals are met. By combining technical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication, the Forklift Operator supports seamless warehouse operations and contributes to the overall success of the organization.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**1. Material Handling & Forklift Operation**_(Weighting 30%)_
- **Material Handling & Storage**_
- Carefully load and unload materials from trucks, shelves, and storage areas to minimize risks such as accidents, product damage, or workplace injuries.
- Assess the stability and weight of loads to determine the safest method of lifting and transporting materials.
- Utilize appropriate techniques to ensure even weight distribution when loading pallets or storage racks, preventing tipping or shifting during transit.
- Follow protocols for handling hazardous materials, if applicable, to ensure the safety of employees.
- Ensure materials are securely placed on pallets and stored in designated locations to maintain organization and accessibility.
- Label storage locations clearly to facilitate easy identification and retrieval of materials.
- Regularly inspect storage areas for compliance with stacking and safety guidelines, addressing potential hazards promptly.
- Stack and arrange materials systematically to maintain stability, comply with height and weight restrictions, and avoid blockages in storage aisles.
- Adjust techniques to handle varying material types, including bulky, fragile, or irregularly shaped loads.
- Proactively address challenges, such as reorganizing storage areas or identifying safer routes, to maintain productivity and safety.
- **Forklift Operation & Compliance**_
- Operate the forklift to transport materials within the warehouse, including moving goods to and from storage areas, loading docks, and production zones.
- Plan and follow safe routes through the warehouse to avoid congestion, obstacles, or pedestrian traffic.
- Operate the forklift in full compliance with company procedures, including adherence to weight limits, lift heights, and speed restrictions.
- Adjust forklift settings, such as fork width and lift height, according to the size, shape, and weight of materials.
- Use additional attachments, such as clamps or side shifters, safely and effectively for specialized material handling tasks.
- Conduct pre-operational checks, verifying tire condition, fuel levels, brakes, and safety features to ensure optimal working conditions.

**2. ORDER FULFILLMENT & COORDINATION**_(Weighting 30%)_
- **Order Fulfillment**_
- Follow pick tickets or electronic instructions to locate, retrieve, and prepare the correct items for orders.
- Verify product details, including type, quantity, and location, to ensure orders match customer specifications and minimize errors.
- Utilize forklifts to retrieve and transport materials efficiently, ensuring timely fulfillment of orders.
- Inspect products for damage or defects during the picking process and report issues to the supervisor to ensure only quality items are shipped.
- Pack orders securely using appropriate materials, such as bubble wrap, packing paper, or boxes, to protect items during handling and transportation.
- Arrange packed items to optimize space while ensuring stability and protection against shifting or damage in transit.
- Attach clear and accurate shipping labels to orders, including destination addresses, tracking numbers, and any special handling instructions.
- Ensure required documentation, such as packing slips or invoices, is included with the shipment for accurate tracking and customer satisfaction.
- Safely load completed orders onto trucks, ensuring proper placement and weight distribution to prevent shifting during transit.
- Secure items using straps, braces, or other equipment as needed to stabilize loads during transportation.
- Collaborate with the shipping team to prioritize high-priority orders and meet tight deadlines, adapting quickly to workflow changes or last-minute schedule adjustments.
- Coordinate with team members to identify bottlenecks or delays in the fulfillment process and implement solutions to improve efficiency.
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the order fulfillment process by reducing errors, improving turnaround times, and maintaining high operational standards.
