Automotive Prepper

A full-time Prepper is needed at CARSTAR St. Catharines, a high volume collision repair shop. The Prepper will prepare surfaces of vehicles for repainting, polish repainted vehicles, and assist paint technicians. Duties include sanding, masking, priming vehicle parts and keeping paint technicians aware of work in progress. Must adhere to safety/OHSA guidelines and use required safety protection.

**DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assist Paint Technician by preparing vehicles and parts for painting using proper techniques, equipment and materials.
- Works with paint team to keep all vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery.
- Maintain all tools and equipment, keep workspace clean and organized.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment.
- Ensure paint area (prep station, paint booth, etc.) and paint mix/storage rooms are clean and all refinish products are stored as directed.
- Assist Paint Technician where required (e.g. blending, maintenance of paint booths, etc.).
- Assist with reassembly of vehicle - replace final moldings, trim and detail pieces.
- Utilize all required safety equipment and follow proper refinishing procedures in compliance with OHSA and CARSTAR safety guidelines. Wear and use required safety equipment (respirator, eye and skin protectors), handle and dispose of hazardous waste properly.

**EXPERIENCE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS**
- Prior experience in a collision repair shop.
- Prior automotive painting and refinishing process experience required.
- Prior paint-prep experience preferred - sanding, masking, prepping and blending.
- Knowledge of auto manufacturers’ repair/refinishing processes preferred.
- Ability to receive direction and work well with others.
- Valid G driver’s licence and insurable driving record.
- Must be able to work Monday - Friday (8:00am-5:00pm)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour

**Experience**:

- collision repair shop: 1 year (preferred)
- automotive prepping: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Class G Licence (preferred)
