Job Duties & Responsibilities

Communications:

- Assist Council in the coordination, development and implementation of a Town Communications Strategy.
- Responsible for all Town social media, including the Town Facebook Page, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts. Direct incoming queries to appropriate staff.
- Manage and update the Town’s website.
- Coordinate public relations activities and events and press releases.
- Coordinate outreach initiatives.
- Support departments in generating and disseminating information.

Recreation:

- Planning and implementing new and current recreation programs (day camps, etc.).
- Review, development and implementation of recreation strategies and plans.
- Related Town event planning including but not limited to: Canada Day Celebrations, Heart Run/Century Ride, Tree Lighting Ceremony, etc.
- Provide leadership, supervision and direction, encouragement, and training, to employees reporting to the position.
- Assist community groups with major event planning.
- Implement and/or facilitate clinics and workshops regarding community needs annually to enhance volunteer skills in providing recreation programs.

What we’re looking for:
Qualifications:

- Undergraduate degree or diploma specializing in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field of study plus 2-5 years’ related experience.
- Experience and knowledge in the following: communications, use of technology to increase engagement.
- Ability to manage all aspects of social media campaigns and advertising.
- Superior communication skills (oral and written).
- Hold a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Education in recreation is an asset.
- Experience with planning recreational events or programs is an asset.
- Program and special events organizing experience.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $65,000 annually
