Lead Logistics Specialist

**Job Description Summary**: As the Canada Lead Logistics Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the logistics activities for GEH SMR Technologies Canada, Ltd. (GEH SMR Canada), the Canadian division of GE Hitachi (GEH) that is supporting the deployment of GEH’s BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR) in Canada. In this position, you will lead daily logistics activities including the development/implementation of route studies to support first-of-a-kind and next-of-a-kind components, work with local partners to ensure warehousing, develop carrier partnerships utilizing preferred carriers, support/oversee component delivery to customer site, etc. Additionally, you will engage Project Management, implement programmatic solutions, and participate in maintaining related procedures (OP’s, CP’s, WI’s, Guides, etc.).
**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Ensure regulatory and internal compliance (CNSC, CBSA, GE, etc.)
- Operational Excellence through the execution of Key Performance Indicators (Licensing, on-time delivery, cost avoidance, etc.)
- Serve as the business Point of Contact for Custom Brokers/Agents, Freight Forwarders, BPO, Transportation Providers, Overseas Shippers, etc.)
- Responsible for start-to-finish processing/coordination for both global and local logistics.
- Ensure prompt and proper movement of materials (booking process, transportation (air, ocean, FTL, LTL, etc.). Facilitate customs brokerage.
- Manage arrival & delivery management including bookings, export invoices, packing list, DGD, CERS filing, shipping manifest, ISL, shipping instructions, bill of ladings, certificates of origin, USMCA, insurance certificates, etc.
- Coordinate with approved service providers on the import/export filings and ensure customs compliance. (Ex: temporary imports, ATA Carnets, etc.)
- Assist in the maintenance/updates of global/regional OP’s/CP’s and guides to ensure regulatory requirements and updates are incorporated.
- Maintain/update database and import/export recordkeeping to meet global governance, local government, regulatory agencies, and nuclear mandated requirements.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement and cost saving opportunities and initiatives within the Nuclear Customs program.
- Assist in creating/updating monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to support proper reporting of international shipments to customs and required government agencies.
- Provide thorough communication/updates to relevant parties to increase status awareness of cargo/materials through the destination point.
- Effectively work cross functionally in partnership with other departments including Commercial, Project Management, Project Cargo, Finance, Services, Parts, Sourcing, etc.
**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in related field or 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 6+ years' experience with foreign customs and international freight forwarding including project cargo.
**Eligibility Requirements**
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of the time as required._
- Work onsite 5 days a week in Markham._
**Desired Characteristics**
- Familiarity with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Portals, including eManifest Portal, Trusted Trader Portal (TTP), Canadian Export Reporting System (CERS), and CBSA Assessment Revenue Management (CARM).
- Ability to read, analyse and interpret highly complex domestics/international regulations and procedures.
- Ability and willingness to complete and maintain relevant certifications, including Air Cargo Security Program (ACS), International Air Transport Association (IATA), International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO), International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG), and Radioactive Material (Class 7).
- English language proficiency.
- Ability to operate a computer proficiently.
- Ability to communicate professionally with vendors, suppliers, internal and external customers.
- Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, business, or engineering from an accredited college or university
- Experience in nuclear industry, or other highly regulated industry that requires a demonstrated compliance mindset.
- Lean and/or Six Sigma certification or equivalent.
- Experience managing complex projects to completion, including cost and schedule control
- Knowledge of provincial, federal, and international applicable laws, and regulations i.e., customs, Trusted Trader Programs (C-TPAT/PIP), and all other import and export government agencies that regulate international trade (WTO/WCO).
- Experience with domestic/foreign customs requirements; trade finance programs; free trade agreements; freight forwarding; customs broker; and International Logistics/Shipping.
- Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS), Certified Custom Specialist (CCS), FIATA International Diploma, or CIFFA International Transportation and Trade Program
