**Assistant Baker & Pastry Production Support**

Do you love the rhythm of early mornings, the scent of fresh bread, and the satisfaction of creating beautiful baked goods from scratch? Join L’îlette Boulangerie in Qualicum Beach as we grow our café and bakery program.
As our Assistant Baker, you will work alongside our Head Baker to produce sourdough, baguettes, pastries, and seasonal pies. You will learn, contribute ideas, and take pride in the consistency and quality of every product we offer.
**Your Role in the Bakery**
- Assist with the preparation and baking of breads, pastries, and desserts
- Support all production stages, including mixing, proofing, shaping, baking, and finishing
- Produce and handle artisan breads such as sourdough, baguettes, and other specialty loaves
- Help create and finish French pastries, pies, and seasonal baked goods
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe workspace
- Assist with ingredient prep, inventory rotation, and kitchen organization
- Follow recipes, portioning, and quality standards
- Collaborate closely with the Head Baker and café team
**Our Hours**
- Tuesday to Saturday, early mornings starting at 5:00/6:00 AM
- Morning and weekend availability required
**What You Bring**
- Previous experience in baking, pastry, or kitchen production (formal training an asset)
- Hands-on experience or strong interest in artisan bread production, sourdough, and baguettes
- Interest in learning French baking techniques and developing pie and pastry skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Reliable, organized, and ready to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods
- Food Safe Level 1 (or willingness to obtain)
- Team-focused mindset and passion for baking
