- **Keltic Lodge Resort and Spa is a historic Cape Breton Resort and is located in the heart of Cape Breton Highlands National Park overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Just 2 hours from Sydney, NS and a 5 hour drive from Halifax, the resort has been welcoming guests to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia since July 1940.

**We hiring for the following kitchen positions**:
**Line Cook**

**Number of Vacancies

**Essential Functions-**
- Set up and stocking of stations with all necessary supplies
- Prepare food for service (e.g., chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
- Cook menu items in collaboration with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and customers in an English work environment

**Required Qualifications-**
- Culinary school diploma, completion of apprenticeship program or at least 2 years of proven commercial cooking experience, including experience as a Line Chef, Restaurant Cook or Prep Cook
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods from a variety of cuisines
- Intermediate English proficiency to communication in English work environment
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Ability to stand for a long period of time and lift supply items

**Baker**

**Essential Functions-**
- Bake breads, pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries as necessary per the provided production and catering sheets and assist in production planning to meet daily requirements.
- Ensure proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes, following prescribed production standards and use of proper equipment.
- Assist with the completion of production records to include waste tracking, used/unused portions and product shortages and inform supervisor when supplies are low.
- Ensure proper presentation, food quality, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures.
- Maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area.
- Handle food items appropriately and with all safety regulations in mind during preparation and service.
- Clean equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments and keep display equipment clean and free of debris.
- Consistently exhibit the ability to keep up with peak production and service calmly, accurately and efficiently.
- Check to ensure that all food is presented, served and displayed per standards.
- Follow principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and customers in an English work environment.

- Creating pastries, baked goods, and confections, by following a set recipe
- Actively participate in the development and creation of new seasonally inspired dishes.
- Decorating pastries and desserts to ensure beautiful and tasteful presentation.
- Work with a variety of kitchen equipment. i.e ovens, stand mixers, counter top mixers, torches.
- Ensuring workstation is kept clean and orderly.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and customers in an English work environment.

**Required Qualifications-**
- Completion of an apprenticeship, college or other program in baking or pastry making, or at least 2 years of pastry cooking experience in a commercial kitchen
