**ABOUT US**
The Parkdale Village Business Improvement Area (BIA) in Toronto, is a municipally designated business association representing over 250 businesses along Queen St. W., between Roncesvalles Ave. and Dufferin St. Through strategic initiatives, annual events, and community collaborations, we promote Parkdale’s unique cultural and commercial identity. Our work focuses on meaningful engagement, curated experiences, and economic development that benefit both businesses and residents.
**OVERVIEW**
The Community Projects Coordinator at Parkdale Village BIA plays a key role in driving and coordinating impactful community initiatives to enhance vibrancy, foster engagement, and activate public spaces. The role blends strategic project management and creative marketing to ensure Parkdale remains a dynamic, inclusive, and thriving commercial district.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Strategic Project Implementation**
- Oversee streetscape projects: planters, murals, graffiti removal, and clean-ups.
- Integrate audio-visual elements, marketing, and artist activations into BIA assets.
**Community Engagement & Coordination**
- Engage vendors, artists, and community groups to support initiatives.
- Promote inclusivity and diversity in project planning and execution.
**Visual Design & Public Aesthetics**
- Contribute to the design of displays, installations, and public events.
- Enhance Parkdale’s appeal and increase foot traffic through engaging spaces.
**Operational and Financial Management**
- Secure permits for installations and events while ensuring compliance.
- Assist with capital project management and community contributions.
**Marketing and Promotion Strategies**
- Develop and share marketing materials, graphics, and social media content.
- Support digital campaigns and Shop Local initiatives to attract visitors.
**Board and Stakeholder Support**
- Assist with meetings and administration to the Manager and Board.
- Collaborate with local businesses to create engagement opportunities.
**MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS**
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) at the start of employment.
- be legally entitled to work in Canada according to regulations.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Marketing and graphic design experience.
- Degree/Diploma in Project Management, Marketing, or Graphic Design.
- Proficiency in project planning, methodologies, and budget management.
- Track record in working with various stakeholders.
- Experience in developing and implementing multi-channel marketing campaigns.
- Negotiation skills in managing vendors, performers, and community groups.
- Ability to handle unexpected challenges and solve problems.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools, MS Office, and social media management.
